Power by the Hour is a great shop from my experience, Blow by Racing is good as well. If there is something I cant do I take my car to PBTH.

I'm curious about this too. In terms of a good dyno and install shop, many have said Torq in miramar is awesome. I think they use a mustang specification dyno too. A man named Paul there used to hav some terminators and is known to tune them well. Aside from that, I know someone with a 9 second termi from Hollywood that says all local shops r not as good as a tuner in Tampa he knows. I'd say ur safe to get local tune unless ur running in mid 10s.

I'm interested in finding a good machine shop that does reputable work on 4v heads. I hav to pull heads and dont want to buy all the special tools for disassembly. I also don't know about Setting timing.

MAK Performance is a good shop out in Hialeah. A few of my buddy's have taken their cars over their with great results. You can talk to either Willy or Adrian they both know their stuff.

Of course there's Jake and Frank over at Power By the Hour. Great, knowledgeable guys that will bend over backwards to help out. I needed a can of Torco for a last minute track outing at PBIR. Jake said to come by on my way up, this was on a saturday that he's normally closed.

Yes Torq's out in Miramar. Paul and Erik are really cool guys. Paul, the tuner, has lots of experience tuning Fords, Mopars and GM's and owned a Whipple'd then turbo'd 03 Terminator. He tuned my S197 for first nitrous, then turbo. Driveability and power were spot on. Erik's really big into road racing and is also the owner of the ZL1 that got yanked by that Boss. Don't hesitate to get in touch with them.

As far as tuner's and 10 sec cars, I think thats a lot of crap. Paul has tuned a ton of 10 and 9 sec cars with no problems. Power by the Hour has Lund Racing's Ken Bjonnes there who has tuned Texas Mile cars, the Twin Turbo 5.0 cars, Beefcakes car and Joe "coffeman"s cars which are all 9 second cars.

If your looking for your heads done right, check out Tim "Ike" Eichorn at Mustang Performance Racing. He has built plenty of badass motors and can definitely take care of your heads:

MPR Racing Engines
170 Commerce Road Suite 3
Boynton Beach Fl 33426
561-588-0188

Theirs also APEX next door to Lethal Performance and Steve at Thunder. We're really lucky to have so many great shops down here.

Alpha sounds like what the guy was telling me.

I called torq miramar today for a quote on dyno tune. I don't think I'll even need one I will b installing headers tho and if I change to offroad xpipe I will need the tune. So torq tells me they can only tune it if I hav a programmer which is bull Bc the car has a tune now flashed to PCM. So thy say I hav to buy a programmer for them to install tune and programmer tune package is 750. Give me a break man. They said they don't hav the software to flash my PCM and so from the math u can c they want 400 for the tune. So I guess torq sucks balls.

Also just called power by the hour. 600 for tune, they can flash to PCM directly. Damn is this expensive or what?

I got my car back from Blow By Racing a few days ago and they charged me 300 for a tune but I got a few of other things done. They charged me for some things that they didn't do in full but the tune was cheap for the going rate so I didn't complain and what i wanted to have fix wasn't the biggest deal in the world but still I got charged a $120 bucks but I understand they needed my car out to make room for another client spending more which I understad to an extent and in no way did they ever say this to me but I do understand how things work at performance shops from being personal friends with an owner of one.

Oh cool so blow by racing does do good work on our cars. Its a friend of a friends shop I haven't talked to in a very long time. in our crew the inside joke was that he named it that for the blow by that would result from their work. Just a jab in the ribs tho we all knew he knew his shit.

300 is sick, how is the tune tho? Does the car run great? Any power changes? Do they use a mustang dyno? Thanks for the news snake!

I told them I wasn't looking for a power monster even though I have a Kenne Bell 2.2 with a built motor. My car pushed 525whp on 15lbs on a very conservative tune. I had a 800whp Supra and the car was stupid fast but the car would always have some stupid random issue all the time. I bought a KB Cobra because of the wine it makes but wanted something dead nuts reliable and thats what they gave me. Good guys and I will use them again.

So I'm excited to say I am a first time mustang owner as of last Friday! I've begun my search for a mustang shop to do minor performance upgrades like a new intake , tuning, down pipe etc...

From this forum I saw a shop called power by the hour, so I visited them today. The gentlemen in the office I spoke with told me there's nothing I can do to increase the HP on the Ecoboost due to Fords built in restrictions. I told him I was interested in a new a CAI and new tuning, and that I've seen online all these great gains from 25hp to 50hp and torque increases of up to 70. We went back and forth pleasantly and he went as far as saying they upgraded a customers Ecoboost with a bigger turbo and Dyno tested it and only had a 5hp gain, so I was wasting my time. He also said I would lose HP. Now I don't know what to believe. I was pretty excited, I've seen all of the American muscle videos but now im deflated...any advice? Is he right?

I don't know anything about eco boost mustangs, but id call around to other shops see what they say. If they give similar responses then its probably true.

Dude I work in sales at a Ford dealership for years. Put that stuff on but depending on what your looking for as far as power you probably won't increase it much. You would have to most likely do some engine work. But if I were you I would put the CAI on, put a nice exhaust, and give it a tune. It will ride better

Since then, I've done a lot more research and have had discussions with two shops which had turbo experience. Power by the hour are V8 guys, which is fine, but they were wrong. The fact that they looked to be at capacity with a ton of mustangs waiting for work outside probably didn't help with their opinion either. In short based on various Tune CAI combos I'm looking at HP increases ranging from 25-55 and 40-80lbs of torq. I'll likely stop at the tune and CAI for a couple of years.
