Not everyone has the time or the patience to put together their own motor. That is why it's extremely important to find an engine builder you can trust.

This is a 5.4 built on the premise that it will take 900-1,000rwhp without breaking.

The engine does have several important upgrades for that power like main & head studs, Manley H beams with ARP 2000 rod bolts etc.

After a simple conversation, It had my mind racing as far as is it true you get what you pay for?

From that conversation I decided that it was a wise idea to pull one piston out and look for myself.

Look what we have here.

It appears to be nothing more then a .155 wall Chrome moly pin. Anyone with a brain would not want in their engine when aiming for 1,000rwhp.

I will be doing all of my own engine builds as well as customer engine builds from now on. Nothing will be rushed or sacrificed. Quality and reliability are the only objectives, not speed or profit margin.

Sorry, I'm not very knowledgable in this area. What thickness pin should have been used?

I just went through all this on car someone bought. Lot of major mods missing. Luckily worked it out and we are doing things right with upgrades and planning for future power

Damm Iron that is disappointing, pretty nice of you not to spill the beans and list this engine builder, if it has 3 letters i'm gonna cringe.. This stuff goes on all the time and most don't even know it until a blown motor is torn down and the internals Aren't the one's paid for..

Part of it is thickness and the other part is material it is made out of. Let's say you are making X amount of power. You can go to a thick walled X pin or go to a thinner wall Y pin.

Where the hell have you been? I haven't heard from you in a while.

I just got off the phone with the manufacturer of the pins and it is indeed a Chrome Moly pin that is rated for about 600 hp on a boosted motor. lol Only about 4-500 short of what it was supposed to be.

Man this sucks...I'm a mechanic but don't have enough experience with engine rebuilding to build my own. I plan on getting an aluminum Teksid block and piece it together..... Seeing stuff like this pisses me off and makes me not want to trust anyone..... Why do you have to be so far away!

Well yes I was inquiring to see if it indeed was, I just purchased a 4.75L stroker and wondered if I needed to get a local shop to double check it.... Dont need to sink 10k into buying a shortblock and having heads ported and valves/springs/retainers/rockers/lash adjusters installed a second time... :nonono:

that said, I need to learn to not ask questions when under the influence; that post was a tad vulgar, even with the censorship in place... oops. lol

Those are just a Coyote crank that has been machined down to accept the older oil pumps.

Thanks for clearing that up Ironhand, you know what happens when you "Assume" and I did because of some of the parts that were used...
