OEM Paint Applied Professionally to Plastic Parts..Is it feasible?

I was wondering what anyone thought about taking the OEM paint color and having a professional paint the plastic pieces? Is this even worth discussing. I ask because I am not familiar with Auto paint on plastic.
I wonder what it would look like. Anyone?

I hate it as well and am looking into either wrap alternatives or actual custom made panels from OEM parts. I painted the interior of my 2000 Saleen and it was hit or miss if people liked it when I went to sell the car so I want something that is easily reversable if need be. I also didn't like having to worry about if someone would scratch the paint on the pieces.

It is absolutley possible. I own a body shop for a living. Just be sure the proper prep work is done. 3m pla-stick works great. Or even medallions flegi-grip works good. Also, its a must! Make sure they use flex agent in tge primer and the clear.

Of course you can do it!

But why not try it yourself? It isn't that difficult. I painted some interior pieces and it came out well and didn't take to long.

Yep, I paint plastic all of the time. Like 13GT500SG said, it's all in the prep. A good adhesion promotor and flex additive and you're good. Some good quality compressed air and nice paint guns help too.

let me ask this: is it possible to paint the vinyl stripes with enduring results?

i may well change my white stripes to black (glass roof so easy to reach all stripes). OEM stripe kit is expensive as hell. American Muscle stripes are cheap but the sides don't match OEM. if I'm already gonna lose the value of the white stripes by having them pulled off, might it be cheaper to have them just painted flat black? would that color last long at all?

Also, check out SEM products at your local auto paint supplier. Auto Zone and similar places won't have it.

SEM makes the best stuff I've seen for painting interior pieces.

I need to clarify that I meant exterior plastic pieces...IE Hood vents, rera license plate surround, and diffuser, not the shiny black plastic on the trunk lid

Just remove it? It's not on there very well from what I can see but I don't know if it goes under the faux gas cap or not

Yeah it looks good. I actually just had my plastic painted, i did not have the dimples sanded down. I actually think it adds a cool effect to the paint.
