een thinking strongly about getting rid of my 2012 kia optima. It's fully loaded navi/heated/cooled seats and damn roomy.

being 25 and family years away thinking about getting another mustang. I had a 91 700hp fox body that I built while in highschool/college. Backseat has no room for adult I'm sure of.

What's up wit the new 13 hood, with the cutouts?

Is there anything I should opt to get when it comes to the packages? Local dealership has 13 white 5k discounted seen here

New 2013 Ford Mustang Goldsboro NC GT Premium 5.0L 8Cyl. Fuel Injected 6 Speed Manual 2 Dr Coupe RWD Ford Mustang for sale in North Carolina at Deacon Jones Ford

I've been searching on the forums and can't find a hp rating the stock automatic can handle. Also what amount of tq can the stock clutch handle.

If I got one it be used and the money saved I would throw a s/c on it.

Haven't seen many threads on s/c (such as kennebell vs whipple vs ford racing)

The automatics can handle a lot of lower. People are just getting autos and throwing a vortech or Paxton kit on em and running low 10s as a daily. Some people will opt for the whipple or ford racing supercharges but mainly vortech and Paxton are reasonably priced and make amazing power!! As for the clutch, it's pretty strong. I've seen some people on here who have full bolt ons for a while and do numerous passes at the track with no issues. Then they may upgrade to a vortech and make a decent amount of passes before slippage occurs. Exedy and mccleod are good aftermarket clutches that are reasonably priced.

HP rating of an auto - a lot

Torque rating of a stock clutch - depends on driver/luck

13' hood has vents in it.

You havent seen many threads on positive displacement blowers because they are expensive and a centri or turbo are better choices for this car.

Gotta admit, those new optimas are damn nice, and being di and turbo'd it'd make for a nice daily with some fun potential if ya modded it

That's the thing.. It is fun to drive...kinda but I'm a tinker/modder. Cat backs, ic piping, intake cost alot but there are no tuners for them so it's pointless. Oh and its fwd.

I do love my cool seats in the summer. Having your balls cool off as you race civic si stop light to stop light is pretty fun. :rolling:

Family member has a Sonata turbo, fun car for what it is. But as you said, aftermarket tuner support is non-existent.

Hood vents are functional and help evacuate air trapped under the hood. Still think the 11-12 hood looks better but I'm biased. Don't agree with the statement that centri's are better, both work well. I've seen plenty of Roush setups run 10's with not much more than a blower and tune. You don't see as many Whipple's because they're 7k.

what about all these threads about the manual transmission giving them problems or blowing up (not literally)

Don't worry about them. The MT82 is a good trans and 90% of the problems are coming from the 2011 and early 2012 model trans. The later 2012 and newer trans dont seem to have the issues. On top of that, 90% of the issues you MIGHT have can be fixed with a clutch line, shifter bracket, or fluid swap(each costing under $75), so even if you did get unlucky and have an issue, the fix is not expensive. But having a 2013 GT M6, if I did it again, I would go auto. Without a second thought.

Why's that? I can't find a lot of info on how strong it is.

The stock auto has gone 8's and I have yet to hear about one fialing due to to much power. They are just plain BEAST. The manauls are also strong and will hold a good amount of power, more than the stock motor can hold. Either way they are both good trannies but I tend to track my car when Im racing so the auto is more condusive to what I do with it. I also daily drive my car so the auto would be better for that but I dont mind the manual. The clutch is light and forgiving so its not hard to drive in stop and go traffic. You'll be happy with either.

I cant see any options on the 13 your looking at. I guess thats not a bad price. I would check truecar.com. i was priced a 13 GT premium GB with track pack and recaros for 35,200 OTD at crown ford in fayetteville.

The manual can hold up to power just fine, but I wish I got an auto now. I never expected to make over 700 when I bought this car.

If your deciding to go real fast go with the auto it will last. The manual will only cost u alot more money in the long run. As for all the other options it's what u like.

I had bought a 2013 gt m6 base car and after the barton bracket i had no trans issues what-so-ever. I put over 11k miles on it before i sold it last month to take care of some things. Im going to purchase another one this summer when the rebates hit to make room for the '14s. Only thing im doing different is i want brembos this time and this one wont be black. The mt-82 isnt terrible i think alot of people's issues are operator error. 26 stangs so far so i think ive got the shifting down lol
