Have a brembo stang and would like to lower it no more than 1.25 inches. I like the way stock gt non brembo car looks with 1-1.25 drop. I never drop my car more than this because of geometry and fear of lost performance. I don't want a real rough ride either.

I see a bunch of people using the gt500 stop hats/strut bearings. Why is that, why are the needed?

I was looking at the L springs....I don't see the P springs that everyone talks about

I have k springs and love the drop. I was wondering about the GT 500 strut mounts as well. Seem you only need them if you go aftermarket struts from 2010 or earlier. I was going to get them, but just wound up doing the drop without them. Also have camber bolts that I will install once i drive the car some and get it in for alignment.

Yes...1.5" advertised. I have heard one or two people say they actually got a little more once they settle.
Right now mine are at 1 3/8" front and about 1 5/8 rear actual drop. I have checked it a couple times since I put them in and they haven't really moved at all.

Here are some before and after pics.

Mounts are only needed if you purchase the 2005-2010 style struts. If you either keep stock ones (not advised) or purchase 2011+ specific struts they are not needed.

That being said, many upgrade the mount regardless for camber/caster adjustability or just to help firm up the front suspension.

I have the H&R Super Sports with the Brembo/Track Pack. I love the way it sits and the ride is still smooth. Obviously it's a little stiffer but nothing like my 03 was. Still comfortable to drive.

I went with the BMR springs SP009 springs. I am very happy with them so far. Smooth on the highway, but very firm when you throw the car around. They are obviously a little stiffer on bumpy road, but it won't break your neck.

I ended up with around 1.25" front and 1.5" rear drop after it settled.

Did you guys notice any performance lost with the springs? That's the thing, don't want to loose the "edge" I have over other mustang. Don't want to go down in performance lol

Why is it not advise to use stock shocks/struts with lowering spring (1.25) for 1.5+ I can see it. Plus no one makes struts for 11 yet only ford racing.

Short answer is you will likely have the "pogo" affect as the stock struts/shocks cannot properly dampen springs with an increased rate. Even on a stock spring setup the dampers are considered marginal at best. Koni does now make 2011+ specific struts, although they are frequently out of stock. I believe other companies do now as well.

I would also purchase the Ford Motorsport jounce bumper set(M-5570-A). They are very cheap and there is no effective way to trim the fronts anyway. Not to mention, cutting them is defeating the purpose of having them there in the first place.

What are the jounce bumper for? Funny name for bump stop? so the shocks on't bottom out?

The bumpers are essentially another spring to help dampen as the suspension reaches the end of its travel. Unlike a simple rubber bumper they are progressive to help provide a smooth transition.
