NJ2AS in association with other NJ gun groups hosted a rally today in Trenton. Other rallies were held across the country at state capitals to show support for gun rights.

Any who, despite the impending blizzard, cold weather and bone chilling rain; myself and many other NJ second amendment supporters showed up in to make our voices heard. "NJ DOES NOT NEED ANYMORE GUN LAWS."

While I was there I guesstimated roughly 1200 people braved the elements to show support for the cause. On the train ride home I caught 2 articles:

300 gather for gun rights rally at NJ Statehouse - NorthJersey.com

Gun advocates support 'liberty' at Second Amendment rally in Trenton | NJ.com

Its more proof that the media has an agenda and we aren't always getting the truth.

Anyone else show up at a rally at their state capital today.

Damn i did not expect that second article to be printed on a New Jersey news site. I thought the second article was very supportive of our rights. I wish all journalists were that factual without trying to add their own opinion into the mix.

Nicola Bocour, project director at Ceasefire New Jersey, said in an interview that the right of New Jersey residents to keep firearms in their homes is not at risk.

“Nobody is disputing their right to have a handgun in their home,” she said. “As far as I know, no legislation that has been proposed will have any effect over their personal ownership of guns. It will have an effect on people who should not have guns who pose a threat on the streets of New Jersey.”

I see no issues with this

Ceasefire NJ...what a joke group.

First of all you do realize that NJ has some of the strictest gun laws in the country; yet we have some of the most dangerous cities. Walking from the Trenton Station to the Capital was pretty bad in the middle of the day in a group of 10. Secondly, because of NJs ass-backwards laws unless you, yourself, are cornered with an assailant pointing a gun in your face you cannot take a shot unless you want to go directly to jail. Hell you may have to be shot before you can take a shot at a home intruder because of the liberal logic.

Here is another fun law from NJ. If you posses a non-functioning BB gun and you leave your house and head to a non-designated gun range or gun shop you face 18 months in prison. This includes deviating from the most direct route. Same goes for traveling with hollow point .22 ammo, except you face a minimum of 5 years in jail.

Now on to what occurred after the rally. NJ state democRATS are rushing to push through 20 new gun control measures(similar to NY state). One major law would be a change to round limits from 15 rounds to 5. None of my guns can carry less than 7. So Ms. Bocour, because I am a law abiding citizen I would have to give up all of my guns. One other bill will force you to have a background check each time you purchase ammo. As if we aren't wasting enough money by forcing the NJSP to call NICS for us, we are now going to do this for ammo purchases?

So tell me Gadfly, with all your liberal intellect, how is there no issue to this? I cannot defend myself or my family. I have to give up my firearms which I purchased, and more of my hard earned tax money will be wasted by this hell hole state's government! And everyone wonders why this is the #1 state losing residents.

Honestly man, I'd say its time to move away from that state. Start taking their tax revenue you pay into by yearly state taxes and they'll get the hint when everyone from CA, NJ, and NY move to GA, SC, FL, TN, TX or any other southern state.

Working on moving to SC/NC. However its my home state and while I'm still here I'll fight the good fight.

The next attack on the Second Amendment may well be a push to outlaw open and concealed carry. Gun-ban advocates point out that there's already legal precedent on restricting Constitutional rights, and are advancing the theory that "keep and bear" only refers to within the home. But OP is correct; most media significantly under-report and negatively spin any gathering of gun rights supporters.

I would love to have a ban on both conceal and open carry IF that allowed gun owners to have any gun they wish. Use any gun for home defense, take them hunting or to the range. That would satisfy all parties I think

Yes, because you only need to defend yourself in your own home. That is the only place a criminal might attack you. :nonono: The stupid here hurts my eyes.

One of many reasons why I gtfo of NJ. Taxes were probably number 1. In my line of work VA sucks to the point that we are barred from collectively bargaining (I question the constitutionality of that one but that is another discussion). But my property taxes here are about a fifth of what they would be in NJ. I pay 1.5% into my pension versus 10% up there. Gun wise, we can do pretty much whatever we want down here. Private sales, NFA items, gun shows, high cap mags, "assault weapons", shall issue CHP, etc. On top of that, in NJ you faced a social stigma if you were open about being a "gun guy". 2A and self defense are encouraged and widely accepted in VA. The pizza sucks and some of the traffic laws are insane, but if you can stomach the bible thumpers the quality of life here is infinitely better than NJ.
