Official numbers don't lie. I dont know how else to explain it really. The bullitt is rated at about 14 in the quarter but some have gotten 13.9 while the mach is rated at 13.8. I know it must be a hard pill to swallow knowing that a 2v bullitt is only marginally slower than a stock mach but I cant make this stuff up. Thats great that you know somebody who knows somebody that dyno'd more hp or got a 13 flat but that's simply the exception not the rule. Some say the bullitt actualy has more than 265hp but the official numbers say 265.

You cant argue official numbers. You can justify yourself an extra 25hp and half a second in the 1/4 any which way you want but none it really matters.

Every source I've read indicates that a stock mach 1 is rated at 13.8 in the quarter. Thats great that you know joe bob that dyno'd more power but the official rating from ford is 305.

Just so you know that's the auto mach. If you refer back to page 3 you can see where I post numerous links that show low 13s. Mine personally put down 281 and 305 with just a catback.

The mach 1 and the 2v have a lot of potential, when you start introducing forced induction. Hell even the blocks are pretty stout and can handle much more horsepower than an old school factory pushrod 302 block. Only point I was making was that in stock form they are pathetic and extremely expensive to build. A 2v from modular head shop will cost you a minimum of $5k, and that doesn't really include any radical upgrades to the heads and cams. In the pushrod world, $5k could go a very long way, much further than the modulars. The 4.6 is a good reliable and bullet proof engine. It's just over engineered and not very good from a performance standpoint in stock form. You can only go so far with bolt ons for a 4v 4.6 before you need to start buying overpriced heads and $1000 worth of cams. I would love to drop a built 4v in my bullitt but the cost alone makes me want to puke. I'd rather build a 408 stroker for my 94 gt.

As far as price to"build" I'll agree the cost is a bit much compared to an LS1 but power potential N/A is definitely there. Prime example there's a guy on this site who went 11.5X @ 12x.X with a STOCK LONG BLOCK, a STOCK LONGBLOCK. So when anyone says a 4V doesn't have N/A potential they are wrong. Granted he has ALOT of weight reduction and carbd the motor but still its a stock 4V.

The Mercedes CL63 is a 6.3L 4V engine which goes to prove the OHC design in my opinion is better than a pushrod because of the power it makes, yes it cost a bitch load to build compared to the LS series but it would make better numbers to the crank with the same compression ratio. To make it more interesting I want to see the raptor engine made into a 4V and see what kinda numbers it would make because I am positive it would make LS7 numbers if not more to the crank.

Other than cost to build the DOHC motor I'll always like it better than a pushrod

The hero run for a mach was a 13 flat. The average is 13.5 stock down to the tire. Evans ran a 13.2 in it but that's not the norm, the norm is 13.5

I think the best time for a mach is 13 flat. And everyone knows the mach is underated dyno numbers prove that

Like i was saying my mach motor made 307 whp and 329 tq with just intake, tb, and exhaust. Take that away and its pretty damn close to 285-290 im sure of it and the motor already had 70k miles on it.

You can argue official numbers because 1.every motor is different(im sure you heard the built on a monday/friday vs wed) and 2. everybody drives different. Some of these ppl who come up with these official numbers run the car 30-40 times best they can and average a number, doesnt mean they can drive. Ive seen first hand some of these magazine drivers suck and its a damn shame they use their times as "official." That goes for all cars.

Lol idk if you are being sarcastic or not but it is fair to say that the auto Mach is slightly slower than the 5spd.... Man those numbers that yours put down are crazy, it must be a factory freak.

He was referring to my my gt and it wasnt slow at all

What's funny is the Mach 1 motor I got came from an auto Mach 1, has 6 bolt crank and originally had 150 shot of nitrous on it from when it was in my buddies mach lol! This motor is stout! And 100% stock still.
