As some of you know, I brought my Cobra to Bruce at FTBR for a complete overhaul on my IRS: bushing kit, bumpsteer, and new ford racing diff cover.

Here are the links to my previous threads:

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/suspension-modifications-211/919537-cobra-suspension-upgrades.html

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/suspension-modifications-211/923493-update-ftbr-irs-upgrades.html

This past Friday, Bruce called me and I went and picked up the cobra. Bruce and I went for a test drive and all I can say is WOW!!!! Before the upgrades, my cobra had wheel hop and the rear end felt like it was all over the place. After the upgrades, the cobra is stable, predictable, and handles like it is on rails. There is ZERO wheel hop and no extra NVH at all as compared to the stock rubber bushings!

I took the cobra out Saturday for a spirited drive before i washed her and put the cover back on to wait for a nice rain to clear all the roads in Milwaukee....but I had the biggest smile on my face before, during and after the drive and still do today....for all of you that are wondering, Bruce's kit is the REAL DEAL! Definitely a upgrade worth the time and money.

I could not be happier with the kit, the service and the experience. Bruce also installed rear HR race springs and shocks while he was putting my IRS back together. During the install Bruce took pictures of the car and sent them to me to make sure I was ok with the drop of the car in the rear. Bruce also replaced my fuel filter installed the 13 inch rear brake upgrade hit and I have a Brembo 4 piston setup on order that Bruce is going to install.

I can't thank Bruce and his team over at FTBR enough! The quality of the parts, the way the parts perform combined with Bruce's customer service really puts FTBR above the competition IMHO.

Next week sometime I am going to take the cobra over to C&M performance and have Marv install the front springs and CC plates; hopefully the weather stays halfway decent in Milwaukee. :)

Thanks again to FTBR and Bruce!

See haters upgrading the IRS will remove wheelhop. You dont need to swap to a SRA cause you can still have wheelhop in a SRA cause my last Mustang had SRA and wheelhop!!!

Glad you can easily tell the difference and I cant wait to get my car back in a few weeks.

Man you make me want to go get my car ASAP from Bruce!

Great kit..... Quick question. I installed adjustable QA1 Shocks and all of a sudden I'm getting some wheel hop.... What adjustment should I have these shocks at? I have them on 8 right now...

:) LOL...yeah im beginning to think i should have left the car at bruces until we got rain....i detailed the crap out of it when i got it back and now all i want to do is drive it and carve some corners, but now i have to look at it in my garage untl some good rain....mark when you pick up your car and go for test drive with bruce and take some corners you have to let me know what you think....i was smiling and laughing...its insane how much better the cobra handles...

I really really want to do this too. This was going to be next years project until my clutch started slipping. So I guess its going to have to wait a little longer. Just out of curiosity, about how many hours does it take to do the full bushing kit plus a diff cover?

I did not do the job myself because I dont have the time (i travel quite a bit for work) so i had bruce at FTBR do it.

Here is a link to the FTBR site with Faqs that discusses how long the process takes if you do it yourself: FTBR FAQ's

I did the full FTBR kit on my convertible, and still have some wheel hop.

Overall, I love the kit, just a little disappointed that it didn't resolve the wheel hop. I think I am going to look into a set of springs for it!

This is the reason that I like to refer to verts as "Special Needs Vehicles" in the FAQ on our site:

FTBR FAQ's

Not only is the bushing kit very important, there are more factors that go into the equation for vert owners.

A good quality FLSFC is CRITICAL in these cars as are springs and shocks. Vert springs (and shocks for that matter) are some of the worst offenders. The best suspension in the world simply can't function properly if the platform is floppy and the springs and shocks are not doing their part of the job.

Yeah, I have a nice set of FLSFC. I think I am going to try and order a set of H&R race springs for it!

I had a set of Coupe springs in it, but took them out because when I cut them I cut the wrong end and it just drove me nuts.

H&R Race springs would be an excellent choice. Along with an appropriately matched shock or something like an adjustable shock. I think that will get you over the hump. :-D Keep me posted.

I was told that the H&R race would work ok with the OEM 03/04 cobra convertible rear shocks.... I dont fully believe this (probably what they tell everyone that asks) but are the coupe versions any better (I know vert's are softer valved but not how much).

I have been running HR sports with my stock bilsteins for 4 years now with no issues. I am upgrading to the FTBR kit as soon as the weather clears up and I can drive my car on the roads
