I've heard that some have ported the GT500's TVS 2300. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of power difference a good port makes vs a unported TVS 2300 with the same pulley combo, and everything else being the same.(TB, CAI, exhaust, etc)

Thanks,

Jesse

Does porting provide any benefit on a tvs? Steg's website used to give more info, now only pics and pricing.

They had a video series on youtube regarding porting a 2013 GT500 and they didnt really give out too much information on the gains they saw. I tried doing some research months ago and even emailed Steig with no reply. Who knows

Every one is selling parts I will just stay with what the people with a big pocket book, several years of research and resources said: Go ahead and take this car to your tuner buy some parts and **** it up. I have more power than I can use so this will be one of the unmolested GT500's forever :)

My thoughts vs porting !

Guys if you gonna gain 60 ~70 RWHP only in porting your stock TVS..
Then .. For me I say BiG NO to it !
I will keep everything stock and drop a bigger Supercharge ( Full Stop )
And then sell your old beat up TVS to get the rest of the kits for more power.
I think it's more cheeper to drop a 2.9 Whipple or KB 2.8 since you already
Breaking the 5000 $ parts and labour :poke:

i have done a couple of ports on the frpp tvs and gained approx 25 rwhp on these , the 13's are quite different but i could answer you in about a month's time when i take a VMP TVS equipped 2012 to the dyno, then swapping the s/c for the stock 13 TVS and lastly my ported 13 TVS, all of this done within a couple of hours to get the best possible comparison

1. If a port added 60-70 whp, which it doesnt. You wouldnt want to pay 5-600 bucks for it??

2. 5000-6000 plus labor on a whipple or KB is cheaper then porting a supercharger?

You need to do some research.

This.

Plus I'd much rather have a TVS 2300 on a street car than a TS blower. The TVS should be broader and make better lowend torque production than a TS that needs to scream to make good power.

That's kind of why I'm asking. You can get a midplate to mount a GT500 blower on a L, and I would love to go built and then throw a 2013/14 GT500 blower on my truck. A 5.4 2v in no big rev so lets ride a broad torque curve.

I recently upgrade my 2012 TVS to a 2013 5.8 TVS. When Bob Stiegmeier and I talked he suggested that his port / polish job would add 25 hp. They haven't ported or polished mine yet, but they will.

Would be a cool comparison did it ever happen?
I am considering porting my TVS and adding an upper pulley when I go E85 next year.

Seeing how you can get 100hp for around 1600.00, just doing the bolt on packages from our great shops in FL, I wonder if a permanent mod on your 5k TVS is really even a serious consideration here.

I hear ya but you can buy a new take off TVS for $2000 SC to filter and porting is the best way to max a TVS combo.
I have been debating the mod plan but I think I'm committing to the normal bolt ons now (TB, CAI, 10% lower pulley, headers Hpipe maybe mufflers) then porting TVS with an upper pulley and E85 conversion in spring.
Decisions :)

I believe you are confusing a TS with a centrifugal blower. TS blowers are positive displacement blowers with almost instant full boost just like the roots-style TVS.
