I got it off. All you have to do is grab the switch from the top, push down and twist it counterclockwise, looking down from the top, until it stops turning, then pull it out of the hole.
The only tools you need are a screwdriver, light and a cloth to put on the carpet, just in case you drop the greasy spring assembly. The whole operation took about 5 minutes from beginning to end.

Thanks for the help, I have been fighting this thing for a week and was about ready to give up. This was on a 2013 GT500 and the pin doesn't have a flat area in the middle, the center is actually turned down to a smaller diameter, so turning the pin won't help to remove it.

Here is a picture of the opening in the top mount, taken from the firewall side.

They beefed up the clutch on the 2013 GT500 and must have thought we needed help pushing down the clutch pedal.

Took out the spring two days ago and just came back from a weekend trip out of state. The clutch feels like a normal clutch now and I actually like it better without the spring. It feels firm and consistent but it is still very easy to push to the floor. I'm now wondering why the hell Ford put the spring there in the first place. Maybe they intended to make it easier to push the clutch in for the lady mustang owners. Oh well, whatever the reason, it's feels much better without it.

I am gonna pop this sucker out this weekend. As long as it's not super stiff without it to the point where traffic would be a bitch I am fine with it.

I don't get what's so hard to understand about this!!!
The problem is the sum of multiple forces acting together. The biggest force is the pressure plate. If you really want to permanently fix this, you need to change it. If you don't have the money/desire to do so, the assist spring removal/clutch line/DOT4 may be enough. Your mileage may vary.

If someone has access to diagrams with Ford part numbers, it would be awesome to verify the pedal assy springs are different parts (GT vs GT 500) and if the TSB part number matches the GT500 part number...

Noticed this issue on my '13 tonight. stuck for about 6 seconds before it would release. Is there any update regarding the later model cars? I thought this issue was supposed to be fixed. Very frustrating, my '13 only has around 1200 miles on it.

NO. I was just in and had a friend who is a Ford tech look into this for two friends of mine having the same issue. There is no TB. You can try the assist spring removal, or after market upgrades such as the steel feedline to the slave cylinder (FRPP has one now that is steel line not all braided like others) or a bettter clutch sustem ...or as others with cash to burn have done...a T56 or TR6060 swap.

I am thankful mine has not exhibited this but waiting for the day. Almost 5K on it now. I did upgrade the sloppy shifter to an MGW. Nice swap.

So I read through this entire thread and still have questions. Yes I am having problems with my 2013 GT before and after new tune. After tune it went to floor. Seems like pedal travel is too much and non adjustable. This also complicates the shifting issues in general. So besides removing the springs is the GT500 a better solution? Does it change pedal travel as well? P/N? Hard to believe you need all that spring and travel.

Thanks in advance!

Why is the helper spring in this picture attached with small wire ?

It looks like someone wanted to reduce the tension ?

OK, just did the spring removal.... 2 things

1. Doesn't stick anymore like it did :)

2. To all the people that say it's barely any stiffer, bull crap! It's quite a bit stiffer.

I don't have a big problem with stiff clutches, as I have had much stiffer than this, but the way people were talking I was expecting just a little bit stiffer.... wrong

I experienced my clutch pedal lock while I was sideways lol tripped me out. Removed the assist spring (and yes it is quite a bit stiffer) and no more issues and have been drivin it like it should be ever since with zero issues. No need to switch clutches or trans.

So I removed spring and have upgraded engine softear (Procal). all make a difference WRT shifting at redline.

So what additional benefit does gt500 pedal assembly get me? Anything that reduces pedal travel would be great.
