you are right Tob. I am currently hunting the interwebz for a nice used kit. My idea is to get this done over the summer.

Here's a link for it at Lethal Performance.

Ford Racing 2011-2014 Shelby GT500 Quad Side Exhaust Kit

Says it's in stock. This is really tempting. I think I have to do tires first though.

Holy expensive Batman!!

I think I would like the cervinis style side pipes a bit better for the price.

Anyone know if there is a kit for this style? Rocker panels and all? For some reason I cannot find for 2010+

I guess I'm not understanding how the kit from FRPP is considered expensive when the Cervini's kit is $300+ more money not including the money you'll spend on getting the body parts painted. I really don't think the FRPP is overpriced considering the engineering behind it. My 2 cents.

It's unfortunate that this is about 50% more than the gt versions. Looks like it comes with a complete new H pipe, which would explain the price. IIRC the gt version requires hacking the stock pipe.

If you can hypothesize on potential kit sales numbers (compared to the GT kit) on being proportionate to GT500 vehicle sales to GT vehicle sales, the number would probably be fairly low. Each kit (GT or GT500) utilizes the same Boss side pipes. You're correct, the difference lies in the fact that the GT uses the factory 'H' section while the GT500 kit in turn uses a custom, non-production, 'H' section.

What is amazing is that the Boss section demands more raw material, different diameter sections throughout, more welds, a stainless flex section, as well as integrated clamps affixed to the engine end.

The FRPP GT500 'H' section...

The beauty of economies of scale in action allows the more intensive piece to actually cost less. Which begs the question...how many units did FRPP contract to be produced for the GT500 kit and what did they pay for them? Because based on the MSRP of each, FRPP is asking for $300 more for the GT500 kit. Interesting.

I ponder, why couldn't FRPP have contracted with the OE system manufacturer to supply them with factory Boss 'H' sections to either modify (such as done in this thread) or ready to bolt on (via tweaked and shortened pipes)? Were the numbers too low, hence the use of a subcontractor that probably doesn't have the same tier production capability (such as Faurecia does)? Certainly has me wondering. Either way, I'm glad that Ford Racing finally made this one available.

Good point Tob, I had not seen the photo of the H and assumed for the price that it was the whole pipe.

I have ARH long tubes and have a custom X on the way from them with the boss provisions. They charged me $300, plus another $350 for the pipes, fittings, etc from tousley. Not a lot of options for us with LTs, but I was pleasantly surprised at ARHs willingness to work with me on this - even if they couldn't understand why I would possibly want to do such a thing to a gt500.

They don't understand it because they think they are the last stop when it comes to good sounding/performing exhaust systems. The sides exits share some of the tone that is normally blared out of the rear and redirects it to the sides, at just the right proportion and at just the right spot for the ears. It really completes the aural experience.

I got my 12 GT 500 back from the tuner last week. Its been parked since October. FRPP 750 HP with dual blade TB and a Steeda Tri flow dual fan Heat exchanger, mild tune.
Ordered the Boss 302 exhaust should be here next week. I will post a video and Dyno numbers when done.
732 crank, 625 rwhp, 600 rwtq at this time.

What Tob said! I have one of the rare pre-production (Tob) H pipes. It almost got rid of the drone I have with the Magnaflow Comp exhaust on my car. It definitely turns heads when I drive up to a cruise in.
I want to install headers as part of the next round of mods but don't want to give up my side pipes. Life's a bitch sometimes...

I ended up finding a nice used Boss H pipe complete with side exhaust for a very good price.

Now the fun will begin when I have a shop take care of the fabbing, if you think of my situation:

Stainless works 1 7/8 LT's will be installed
I have the 3 inch offroad X for those LT's

Now I have Boss H along with the stock H that will come off

so it begs the question: which combination will work the best? Weld the side exhaust's onto the X pipe?

Hack up the Boss H on the ends, open up them up and make then fit with the LT's and stock rear exhaust?

Or hack up the stock H and make the side exhaust fit on that?

I have a feeling the Boss H will be made to fit onto my LT's and stock exhaust for ease and best sound but we will see

I wonder if the H pipe that comes in the FRPP kit will work with the ARH headers with just some cutting to the H. What I'm thinking is trimming the H to mate up with the ARH catted or O/R pipe that goes between the collector and their X/H. Seems like it should, unless the dimensions of the FRPP piece are significantly different than stock (which I doubt since it hacks into the stock H pipe). Does anyone have measurements either from center to center or outside edge to outside edge on both ends of the FRPP GT500 H pipe?

Go back through this thread. You'll find everything you are looking for, including dimensions on the factory Boss and GT500 'H' sections.

I have been following this thread for what seems like ages. What I'm really looking for is the dimensions if the gt500 specific FRPP part. Didn't see it in here though I may have been blinded by the volume of I formation here.

The FRPP piece mirrors the stock pipe in terms of diameter and tube centerlines. I suspect that you'd be better off to add some custom stubs (I showed how to do it earlier in this thread) to your aftermarket exhaust. Just pick up the flanges from Ford, some pre-bent tubing, cut/weld/etc, and add the factory Boss side pipes.

Of note, I see that FRPP has added an instructional pdf to the parts listing. They indeed are including some heat wrap with this kit but it isn't for the fuel lines but rather to protect the rear axle oil cooler lines. From the pdf...

This is a great kit and simple enough to be done at home.

From here.

So who is going to step up to the plate and do it!?
