Well a heads/cam LS3 can hit well over 500 whp easily... If you want all out n/a power you can't beat an LS3. I would probably go with a 5.0 given the choice, but I would hate to hit the wall after bolt ons your only option is nitrous or $10k f/i build.

Most 5th gen owners don't mod their cars how they should though, they ignore things like rotational mass and weight and gearing. Like the one the op raced in the first post.

Not sure why you think a 5.0 hits a wall after bolt-ons. You might should stick to the Camaro5 forum. The fastest all motor gen5 Camaro I've ever seen at SGMP was the Jbrown guy on Camaro5 and I raced him on his best ever pass which was an 11.36@121. I can list all of his mods if needed including cam specs and the only thing stock about that car is the rotating assembly.

Yeah LS1 you'd think. But the truth is they don't hit over 500 or even 500.. not in something you can drive everyday! I mean sure you could cam the ship out of it and run it on racing fuel etc.. but the ones on the street they just dont. The only thing I can think is that the drive line saps so much power because its a borrowed old band aid design?? Either way it's time GM pull that stick out of the middle of the block and put it up top with some others.. maybe shrink it from a 6.2 to a 5.7 and aim for 450 hp N/A and use the new ats frame. . That frame isn't perfect and was a compromise design.. but better than what it's got now

I see alot of guys in here don't know shit about the ls3's power output or potential in a 5th gen. Also a L99 with a VVT cam and heads can make over 450rwhp. A simple bolt on 5.0 is not gonna pull on a cammed 5th plan and simple.

You've lost your damn mind if you think a Bolt-on 5.0 can't pull a bolt-on and cammed 5th gen. You should leave Texas or wherever you are . You might learn something. Apparently you don't know shit about any Ford.

You are correct but oneslowv is obviously just some ex-chevy owner that couldn't stand how ugly and slow his camaro was so he bought a mustang and still has a chip on his shoulder and still feels the need to try and defend a car that is un-defendable.

First off this is my second mustang. First was a GT500 then traded it for a L99 camaro. The car was far from being slow. You guys act like a L99 or ls3 5th gen needs a shit load of mods to outrun a bolt on 5.0. Far from the truth with the right setup a L99 can run right with a 5.0 without a cam. Seen it done plenty of times. But its typical on svtperformance to have idiots on the forum. And far from a chip on my shoulder glad you think they are ugly. Guess you haven't seen that shitty ass 2015 5.0. But since this is a beauty contest my 392 looks better than both. Have some respect for the other side. If it wasn't for the camaro the mustang would still have a slow ass 3v in it :p

Really? Because I've never seen it happen but if some mustang driving, Chevy nut swinger says it true then I guess your right lmao. And yes I did happen to see the new 2015 mustang at the Houston auto show and I was undecided based on pics online but after seeing it person, it is definitely NOT something I will be buying

You are right about one thing though, the 392 is a very good looking car. Too bad it is also too heavy to go toe to toe with the mustang mod for mod.
