Saw a beautiful white and blue striped GT500 in my rear view. He was a couple cars length behind me when he floored it (ricer style). I found third gear and nailed the pedal (about when he was at my rear fender). Since he had a head start I had to catch-up--he had about 4 car lengths on me when I stopped his pull. I reeled him in by the top of fourth and smiled at the driver once my car pulled up to his. I barely past his and then shut it down. After the pull he took the next exit and I followed hoping to chat. I followed him for a minute, but realized he was trying to avoid me, so I just went home. Guy must have had some serious butt hurt about the pull, but it made my day. His facial expression, as I was passing, was priceless. It had 2013 looking gt500 mufflers and very wide rear tires, I don't know what his other mods were. Theoretical if the race had been fair and the cars evenly lined up, I think I would have pulled about 5 cars on him give or take.

Nice run.

Have you noticed a difference with the ported boss intake?

After adding the boss intake, the car feels a little stronger on the top end, with a definite power loss on the lower end, the benefit of the boss really isn't felt very much. Adding e85 to the car brought the low end power back, to about what it felt like with the stock manifold on the bottom end. E85 has been my favorite mod yet. On gas with the boss intake and 3.31 gears the street fun factor of the car was missing and E85 brought the fun, seat of the pants, stop light acceleration back.

The weight difference with these iron blocks and the factory 3.31 gears means that a slightly modded 5.0 can keep up or pull a stockish GT500. The difference is that with a pulley, intake, and tune the GT500 gains a very large amount of power for about $1100 ant he 5.0 will have to work much harder to keep up. Good run.

2007-09 GT500s are dogs. With your mods you are close to his power with alot less weight. Now 10 or newer GT500s you would have a hard time pulling on one from a roll. I loved yanking my buddies full bolton 5.0 from a roll with my stock GT500 :)

I disagree. All these threads lately really want to make me run into a 5.0. I'm going to have to hit up some local boards and find one to run. I guess if he was bone stock it could be close but it seems crazy to me to think 5 car lengths is even possible.

Cobros vs 5.br0s.

The struggle rages on.

Agreed.

I don't like Ford vs Ford, but I'm going 5.0 hunting myself.

It's just funny because the stock gt500 isn't crazy fast. Intake, pulley and tune make the car totally different. It going to be harder and harder for the 5.0 guys to find stock 500's to run.

To come from 4 cars down on a roll he must have been stock and in overdrive. Good kill anyways, fyi a bolt on 5.0 isn't running with a bolt on gt500 from any year in a roll race. A blown 5.0 is a whole other story though, then the tables turn if the shelby is still running the stock eaton.

That was kind of my point. Hanging with a stock 500 or slowly pulling maybe. I just don't see a non forced induction 5.0 pulling from 4 car lengths back. The 500 might have just floored it in 6th gear.
