5.8 in the new S550 SVT?

Just saw this, and haven't seen any comments on it anywhere on here.

Any idea where they're getting this "5.8" stuff from? Didn't think the current block would fit in the S550. New block? Punched out Coyote?

No way do I see a "flat plane crank" being put in the car. Besides, isn't the current GT500 already north of 660hp?

Probably a punched out coyote? they are stating it's having catastrophic engine failure. these 5.8's out now aren't doing that.

tires still look like they are 285's at least they are Michellins, Carbon brakes and a twin piston rear look better.

Too bad they'll probably be 85K by the time they are released. Hopefully the current models will hold value knowing there isn't a high HP replacment due for a few years.

Hope our Shelby's do not loose value. This is something I like about Chevrolet, they hold the same platform for at least 8 years...look at the Vette's, the last C6 2005-2013. They do changes, but they are really minor. Just me two cents.

Magazines now seem to write whatever they hell they want about future speculation. It's basically whatever they think will get the most generic people buying their magazines. Clickbait on paper. And it worked.


Pretty sure the rumor of "Trinity engine won't fit in the new mustang" came about when it was also rumored the S550 would be much smaller than the current car. Now that we know it's actually bigger, why the hell wouldn't it fit?

If I win the lottery, the first thing I'm going to do is buy a 2015 and swap in a '14 Shelby engine lol.

Shelby's have already depreciated so I wouldn't have that mindset. Enjoy it and don't worry about resale. As to your point regarding Chevy keeping the same platform for 8 years... Isn't that the s197? 2007-2014 is basically the same platform.

Yup, stupid article.
Catastrophic engine failure points to developing a high winding NA flat plane crank motor above 5.0 liters. There is no way they do this with anything other then a coyote. 5.0 is sort of accepted as the theoretical maximum displacement of a "stable" FPC V8…. something that could be used in a production car. If the FPC 5.2 rumors are true, ford is facing some serious engineering challenges that may take some "Voodoo Magic" to solve.
If it was boosted, they would be turning less rpm and not blowing up.
Of course I could be wrong… but not nearly as wrong as many of the articles in the mags.

Yup, and hte 07=-09's are under 30K for low mileage clean ones too. Just drive it and enjoy it as it willnever increase in value, only lose value. Way too many produced to ever be a collectors item

Fact: Autotrader reports 89 used 13 coups with an average price of $60,350. I would say that these cars have lost little to no value as of yet.
Opinion: Until there is a car that equals or eclipses the 13-14, this will remain the car to have for the next couple of years.........Steve
