This is an awesome build. Sweet sleeper
Thanks! If I ever get it done it will be for sure! I am working many extra hours at work to fund, but find myself without time to wrench. Last summer I took a vacation from work to do major mechanicals of the swap. Now I find myself with a 351 lightning motor that I want to rebuild and stick in there. Ha! It never ends!

This is the engine out of a 1st gen lightning. I want to do my proposed long rod build! However, there is a little voice in my head telling me to do the roller cam conversion and drop this beast in there just the way it sits with the exception of a new cam. I have in my possession an e-cam and there is also the option of the 1986 speed density cam. I really don't care about top end power. Street monster. All torque. In by 5500 is fine for this build.

Pretty sure a 95 Lightning already has a roller cam...?

The lightning motor has a cobra valvetrain! Yay me! I bought some parts for the 351 swap.

I pulled the intake and there is no spider or link bars. It looks like flat tappet camshaft. That's alright. I am going to convert it to roller cam before installing into the Daddywagon. Some more parts came. K-member spacers, crankshaft pulley spacer, and ceramic shorty swap headers came in the mail! I will take pictures.

I bought used autocross tires in the proper size for the car to check fitment. $50 for the tires. 245/45r17. I am doing the roller cam conversion my self. My cam options are stock h.o., e303, or buy stage1. I have e303 and stock in my posession.

umm! 351W swap!
Yes! 351 swap! It's not done yet. I am going to roller cam my 351 lightning engine and throw it in there. Wiring and rear brake plumbing. I am going to do 2 weeks vacation in September to get as much as I can done. So, we'll see.

Thanks! Not close but you never know, I may take you up on that offer! I've got a buddy in D.C. that I've been meaning to visit.

I love this build, but man I gotta say sorry in advance, but that "wood" belongs on a console tv, not a station wagon! the design is so plain and boring!

It's all good! I personally like it for the sleeper effect. Nothing says station wagon like faux woodgrain! I think if it were a mustang or even the ltd sedan it wouldn't be as "funny". The NEXT wagon can be all black and chrome/polished metal. I love that combo. Probably a fairmont wagon if I ever find one.

The conversion wiring harness does not accommodate emissions. I know most just eliminate all of that stuff, but I bought the mustang specific wiring harnesses.

I decided to paint the cobra brake set-up and I suck at painting and laid it on too thick. It will have to do for now. Maybe later (like next year) I will redo it.
