You'll have to look at the connectors you have and compare them to those of the MB seat as the change was made somewhere in 11/12. Just unplug them and look.

I have no idea why Ford felt it necessary to change certain portions of the SRS. You've mentioned repinning...whether you can or can't, the bottom line is that the shape of the connector has changed. Swapping the bladder/sensor is a pretty simple task if it proves to be necessary in your case.

Understood...connectors changed.

Awesome, thank you so much for your insight.

Regarding the airbags, in your 2009 case, the connectors matched including wire colors?
I am worried about connecting the connectors (in the case that they are a match) and possibly having something go off if there is a discrepancy (change) in the wiring. Will an airbag go off if the wires have changed or do you just get a blinking SRS light? If you know off the top of your head...

I'd have to go back through the photos posted in this thread to note any changes in wiring colors. Off the top of my head I do not recall if each color was identical between new/existing in my case. I can only say that I do not believe there was a third revision, ergo, when the connectors are a match you've got it right.

Just installed a pair of 2013 Recaro full leather take-off, off a GT. It was the one for sale on the threads. I have a 2007 GT with power driver seats and was planning on swapping over the rails until I found out the lumbar support motor was broken so I scrapped that idea.

And the power seat rails are heavy, majority of the weight comes from the seat base.

One thing I wanted to point out is that the SRS airbags are 100% compatible and plug and play!

I did have to get change over the passenger occupancy sensor and bladder but works as it should once done.

I first tried to just plug it as is and though the plugs physically fit I got DTC 52 code.

That's actually not true. As you've seen earlier in this thread, I've had all the seats apart and weighed various things. Most of the weight is not in the seat base, and the difference between power and non-power is only a few pounds. The Recaro seats themselves (w/o the tracks) actually weigh more than OEM seats.

Your new seats look great. Let us know how the passenger side OCS swap goes.

I'm also part way embarked on this project... and here are my findings.

I've completed doing the driver side, and what I can confirm is that this swap (going to power bases) can be done without stripping the seats or totally dismantling the frame. If one looks at the underside of the base, you can see 4 bolts that hold the 2 parts of the seat base together. Remove these 4 bolts, take out the wiring harnesses, and they're apart. The passenger side, I think the leather bottom is coming off.

Note that it's a really tight squeeze (as the bolts aim upwards), and will likely result in some hacked up hands. The best tool you can possibly have for this is a 15mm ratcheting wrench, as there isn't room for a socket/driver.

I also added the power lumbar (had to pull the material up on the original seat, recaro leather simply snapped apart enough to add that without too much issue).

edit: As an aside, those who have done this swap... do you guys do anything for a seatbelt retainer to help hold it forward / make it easier to grab?

For the passengers, do I need to swap out that control box as well, or just the bladder?

I did the same and swapped bases, quite easy, will look at a retainer for the buckles as well

That would be a great idea as you really do have to reach for the belt.

By "control box" are you talking about the respective sensor for the bladder?

On the seat belt retainer, my thought is that since we still would have the "snap" on our lower seat base, to find some sort of leather strap that matches the interior (almost like a thin belt for your waist) loop it around the seatbelt, and snap it into that.

By "control box" yes, I think I mean the sensor for the bladder. The black box that's riveted to the seat frame?

I swapped the bladder and its respective sensor.

is the 2015 recaro M-63660005-MD will fit the 2007-2009

Good question. I don't know if the side airbag module is a physical match for that of the S197 Recaro. Logic would hold that it is but with ever improving safety equipment it just might be different. However, if the seat bottom/back frame are unchanged I would venture to guess that you could make the new leather FRPP seats work by retrofitting the airbags, harnesses, passenger side seat bladder, etc.

What is difficult to swallow is that FRPP offers a leather Recaro now that S197 production is over. People begged for them previously and Ford Racing said no. I'd love to know who the individual is/was that made the final decision to not carry a leather S197 Recaro and if it is the same individual that gave the green light to an S550 leather Recaro from FRPP. It would seem that the rationale is either random, horoscope, or psychic hotline driven.

The better question is, why isn't it like the production seat? That looks like the seat available on the '12 - '14 GT500, which then loops back to whether or not this seat will fit/work in the '11 - '14 cars.

edit:
Strike that first question. I was thinking about the GT350 seats.:nono:

I was just going to say that your first question is a bit off. The FRPP leather clearly mimics the '15 production seat.

Just sat in a 2015 Mustang equipped with Recaros at the autoshow.

What I can tell you with certainty, is that the 2015s will not be a basic bolt in to the 2005-14, as the mounting points for the seat bases are different.

That being said, they may share the same 4 bolts that hold the 2 halves together... one would need to see the underside in order to determine that.

Finally got the drivers seat in... everything seems to be working, and damn, are these seats comfy. I put the power lumbar in, but as others mentioned, it's probably unnecessary.

My only question is, did any of you have an incredibly difficult time getting the front console side bolt in when putting the seats back in the car? For me, it's going in about 1/2 way, and then becoming nearly impossible to snug down...
