I'm currently looking at this car: http://www.vivaford.com/new/Ford/20...a0a0a00643fb65fd646c96e04.htm?searchDepth=5:5

I went through true car to get a no haggle price. Price is $40927.

They are showing the following discounts through True Car

$3088 Dealer MSRP discount
$3000 Ford Taurus Costumer cash
$300 USAA member discount

For a total of $6388 in savings.

I like this car, I think the price is still pretty high even through True Car. This car is also a dealer demo with a few miles short of 4k miles... Yes 4k dealer demo miles.

How low do you think they will go on this car? I'm considering trading in my Civic and they are jerking me $2k short on trade in value.. I owe 8600 they offered me $6600. That was their initial offer I didn't negotiate I just walked. I'm 99% sure I want that car if I can get them down to a break even on my trade and a flat $39k plus sale tax on the SHO.

How do they do trade in's? That's my dilemma right now. I went ahead and called them, I think they are closed today.

I did a search and came across this.

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/640952857/overview/

2015 Ford Taurus SHO
$34,763 | MSRP $44,835

Whitesboro, TX 76273

The discounts that dealers out of my area are giving is staggering.

I priced the exact car I'm looking at through Edmunds to get the Invoice price and it was $43k,

I'm thinking about going in there tomorrow and saying Invoice plus True Car discounts and an even trade on my car no negative equity rolling in.

It should be right at $37 plus tax and dealer fees OTD I think I can get it at $39.5k

I've driven the newer Chargers as a rental car. ie V6 model it's okay. I know they can be optioned better that what I've driven. I haven't cross shopped the Charger R/T vs the SHO. The SRT is just too much money.

You owe it to yourself to at least test drive a R/T or maybe even a scat pack Charger.

I like the SHO, but I personally wouldn't buy one new since they depreciate insanely.

I think I might have to go and look at a Charger. This particular SHO might just be to damn expensive for me.

The best they can do is Invoice minus manufacturer rebates. Their car's invoice is $44286. They wont do Invoice minus True Car discounts. The rebates they are offering are $5750 through FMC or $4250. I was looking at using PenFed for their payment saver auto loan...

Basically OTD (including TT&L) I'm still looking at a $42kish car that is a demo with 4k miles on it.

I need to give that dealership a call. Dealer in MI called me today. She didn't make me any promises but but seemed interested in trying to help.

I totally forgot about my X Plan through SVTOA. I renewed my membership this weekend too.

Do you know the difference between X Plan and invoice? Also do dealers have to honor incentives on X Plan prices?

What I'm wondering about now is if I just order a car to my specs will I get it at X plan minus incentives??

You can negotiate a better deal than x-plan. Just say: "I can get X-Plan anywhere, if you can do a better deal, I can possibly purchase right now."

I did this with my 2015 Mustang GT and I paid slightly under invoice, with the dealer eating apart of their holdback. It took about 15 calls to different dealers to get a deal like that though. Do not deal with salesmen, just ask for the sales manager.

Just ordered a new (2015) SHO. $9k off MSRP.

You should be looking at minus $13-15k.

Make the deal without the trade first. After you are satisfied with the negeotiated price discount of the car, make it clear the trade is an integral part of the deal. BE FIRM on trade in values since this is where dealers can and will tip the deal-scale their way. You can ballpark the price of your car by looking at closly matched cars on many cars sale sites and look at EBAY "Buy IT Now" private seller auctions. Then look at KBB somewhere between "Trade In" and "Private Party" values. Condition and mileage makes a big differenc so pay attention. The State Tax advantage to trading the car adds money to your bottom line. The pain-in-the-arse factor of not having to sell the car privately is also a time $aving convience. Hope this helps.
Bret.

So I went and did some talking with the dealer. OTD they offered 43k. Which is invoice - $5500 but rolling $2k negative equity.

Do you guys think $40.9k OTD is a good deal? OTD includes TTL. That would be no negative equity and a few bucks less than invoice.

Yeah that is the SHO demo from the first post. I plan to pass on the deal. I don't love the car that much. I need to go look at the Charger RT.
