My FRPP Recaro's just came in...

ya had mine in and out a few times, that sucker just wants to crossthread. Try putting a good light down there when you start it

Tried light... tried some lubricant.... tried cleaning out the threads in the car (a bit of metal did come out).... still nothing.

It's really strange, the bolt is approx 1" long. It definitely wants to crossthread at the beginning, but once you get it, it goes pretty easy for the first 3/4", it's just the last 1/4".

Any other suggestions? Obviously, an incredibly frusturating experience to get the seat taken apart, put back together, and not be able to get it in the car!!

There is so much good info on here that I think you guys might be able to answer my question. Hope you guys are still around. I have a 2012 with a 8/11 build date which tells me I have the older connector and if I were to get the Ford Racing seats (used) they would have to be the MB seats not the MC seats. I have a few questions I would like answered if you can

1. The only difference between the MB seats and the MC seats is the side air bag connector (yellow) correct? The passenger sensor and bladder connections are the same so if the yellow connector is solved then it’s a plug and play.
2. Is the wiring of the yellow connectors the same and just the actual shape different?
3. If the wiring is the same would it be possible to cut the MC seat connector off and splice on a MB type connector?
4. Or could you just cut off the connector and connect the wires directly?

Let me put it this way...if you can't get the seat that is plug and play for your specific vehicle build, you can always swap the necessary components from your original seats. Beyond that, I'd reference a factory manual prior to ever cutting/splicing connectors.

Yea, I'm just going with the Boss seats I found. I put the side air bags in later.

my 2010 had the same airbag connector and plugged in with no problem. the airbag light is still on so i will be switching out the bladder in the passenger seat and the sensor anyway. the only connection that didnt fit was the seat belt connector. i had to cut and splice the round one in when doing the swap. the newer seat had a square connector. the color of the wires were the same so that was easy enough.

Would anyone know if the Ford Racing seats with Part# 7220432.1.3017 and Date-6/27/2012 fit in my 2012 with a build date of 8/11 VIN- 1ZVBP8CF8C5247483? I ask because I know that only the Ford Racing MB seats would fit and that the MC seats will not due to different connectors. I found seats but the only part # on the seats is the one I listed above. Nowhere on the seats does it have the other part # from ford racing (M-63660005-MB)

I have the MC seats in my 2011. If I remember correctly, the only thing I had to change was the occupant sensor on the passenger seat. Very easy to change out, just need to take off the bottom seat cushion and drill out a few pop rivets. No big deal.

Well that goes in total contrary to what this whole thread has said. The side air bags plug are said to be different.

I know when I did the swap, the only thing I changed was the Passenger side bladder and sensor. Had to drill out the pot rivets as well. Since I had to take the passenger seat apart, I decided to make the driver seat power like my stock seat was. Instead of doing the welding trick, I unbolted the top frames from both seats and swapped the Recaro onto my stock bases. Very easy and walah it made the Recaro seats power seats (lumbar, and power bases) worked out great. I'm short so it's nice to go up and down, to see.:beer:

are there any aftermarket recaros or corbeau or other seats that fit in the gt500? the stock seats are heavy and the oem recaros arent much better im sure. i dont mind having manual seat control and no lumbar adjustment or anything. i just want a seat that will hold me better in the turns and not weight a ton.

or would that drive the car's computer crazy not having the seat airbags and what not all hooked up?

Yes, there are seats out there that will fit. The problem is that there are no "plug-n-play" seats out there. From my searching over the past couple of years, everything needs some kind of modification for the seat rails to fit. Why the manufacturers don't just make/offer a fully compatible add-on rail system (at an additional cost, of course) is beyond me!

would it affect the car not having the sensors and airbags plugged in? for example the passenger seat has the airbag-weight sensor in it.

i would think the airbag would not go off since there is no sensor for the passenger to go off in the dash. if you dont mind not having a passenger side airbag than it doesnt matter. I know the guy i bought my recaros off of put corbeau fronts in his 14' and look great.

It won't affect the car at all, other than having airbag lights on all the time. I haven't had my front seats out of mine yet, but when I reupholstered the seats in our Forester, I noticed that the passenger side airbag sensor is just an air bladder pad. Just take the bladder off the stock seat and insert it in the new seat. It works just like a jetted tub switch. It works off air pressure to activate the passenger airbag system.

The only things keeping me from swapping out my seats for some lightweight aftermarket racing seats are the fact that I don't want to jerry-rig seat rails and that most of the aftermarket seat materials are garbage. I can live with cloth, no problem. Just don't put that cheap ass vinyl or vinyl patches on the seats for a "leather look." Not only does it look bad, but it also looks like it'll wear out in no time.

All that said, I think I'm still going to eventually breakdown and get a set anyway and figure it out from there. I have no idea how much the stock seats weigh, but some of those craptactular aftermarket seats weigh almost nothing. And that's a strong proposition. I chatted with a guy on Youtube that had some cheap seats he got off ebay. If I recall, he said those things were only 10 or 20 pounds each. They looked decent, but seemed a little too flimsy. They were pretty much just plastic frames with foam inserts that were velcroed on. The thought of seats that light was very tempting, but the thought of them becoming ejector seats in a crash brought me back to my senses.

yeah i wouldnt trust cheapo ebay seats. leave those to the riced out civics lol.

i was thinking more corbeau/recaro/bride etc... recaro has nice lightweight manual seats. that's what i would want. ill talk to them at sema but not sure that will really help in finding out info. they'll probably just say, talk to one of our distributors...

Recaro is almost the defacto seat to go to, but dang they're expensive compared to the others! Corbeau has some decent looking seats, but they're the main ones I was talking about with the cheap vinyl. I haven't checked Bride. I'll have to look into those. My wife used to own a performance shop. I'll ask her of some other brands.
