So recently I decided to change the K member in my 98 cobra to a MM tubular K. So I got that along with the Oil relocation kit and some other things. Well I thought about it and while I'm at it I might as well change to headers since this is the best/easiest time. So I ordered bassani 1 5/8 Mid length headers.
Getting ready to pull the engine I looked into the how's and whys of it all and decided to lift the car off the K/engine/trans.

Boom, that was easy.
I got a little frustrated with the AC so I decided to go ahead and delete that along with the EGR.
But hey now that it's out... Why not go ahead with a C head swap! 01 cobra heads aren't that expensive and power gains are worth it!
01 cobra heads bought and delivered.
Need to get a valve job, resurface and back on they go with my 98 Cams.
So I'm waiting on the 01 heads at the machine shop when I spot some local ported 04 Cobra 9thread heads come up on Craigslist for a good price with crower stage 3 Blower cams. Turns out they're DC castings!! #score
0eb1a26f5eb7a38a186fa5c4391f264e.jpg

So I bought those, then sold the cams/springs/retainers.
Went and picked up my 01 heads before they touched them and then sold them.
I then found a guy in Houston(Mike Cogburn) that could work on my heads and brought them to him for a competition valve job, bronze guides, and resurface.
Heads are done and look amazing

At this point I'm shooting for about 330 RWHP.
While the heads are getting work I wonder if I could find some used cams... So now I'm looking for some 2000 R cams or comp 106100.
While I'm looking for that I'm thinking about the power output it'll be at with aftermarket cams...
Now I'm shooting for 350 RWHP.
So that makes me wonder how long the short block will hold up being that I track the car on the road course regularly.
With that in mind I'm now looking for a shortblock... MMR, NOPE!! Cheap but NOPE! After searching around for a while my buddy Mike(who's working on my heads at this point) tells me he could build me one and will get me a price.
After thinking about it for a week or two I decide to go with a new one from him.
Teksid Aluminum block
Forged internals
10.8:1 CR
ARP main studs
ARP head studs
And more.
After decided on this I knew I had to have something other than the stock intake. At least a SRI. So I was about to make my stock intake into a shortrunner when this little beauty popped into the classified!
e8842089399b242f26a8cb432bb7e492.jpg

An FR500 intake with carbon fiber hydrodip which ironically matched my valve covers.
b78f480d2a63329876a73ca8ab93f359.jpg

Of course with all this awesomeness you can't just throw stock cams back in there... Talk about bottle neck! So...
Heads were flowed, intake was picked, desired RPM range, and then custom road race cams were ordered!
Cam specs are 236/240 @.050 .500 intake, .475 exhaust.
Speaking of bottlenecks, I decided to return the 1 5/8" bassani mid lengths and go with 1 3/4" ARH headers and X.
Along with that I needed some fuel upgrades too so I went with a Walbro 255lph and 39# terminator injectors.

Mike Cogburn - (built my engine) definitely consider him if you're in the Houston area and need any type of engine work!
Joe, Matthew, Micah - for doing the dirty work and helping even though they don't always know what's going on haha. Wiring up my gauges and crap. Especially Joe for the motivation to smoke his butt #SRTkiller
Seth - moral support. You're in college so you can't physically help but I know you want to

This was already my favorite SN95 build. Pure track build. Now you are going 400rwhp? This will be an absolute track monster. Can't wait to see finished product.

I will be building my 4.6 but I'm not sure how far to take it, if I decide to go as far as a built bottom end I will re-sleeve to a 3.7 bore and stock stroke to un-shroud the valves. I will have to look up Mike Cogburn if I do because I was going to look into a reputable builder for my build.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread and come back to it when I'm ready but yeah you can pm me his info. my first order of business is getting this car to handle with a stiff chassis and upgraded suspension, power means nothing if you can't get it down.

There is super light clutches out there. You can also get aluminum pressure plates. Spec Mini Twin is 22lbs for everything with flywheel. REM'd lightened gears.

I'm not ready to spend a lot of money on a couple pounds. Maybe one day. I need a T56 though
