So after a lot of frustration I finally got my 2015 recaros to fit into my 2012 with no airbag light. I honestly wouldn't go through the hassle again but figured i would share for anyone thinking about trying it themselves.

First I had to take the plastic pieces off the front of the seat brackets.

Then I had to cut off the metal nipples from the rear brackets with a dremel.

Also had to cut off the front metal brackets completely

At this point the seats would bolt into the car with the rear brackets. Next I had to make brackets for the fronts. I bought a 2x2 L shaped piece of steel from Lowes. It was a few feet long. Also got 4 bolts with washers and matching nuts tp secure the brackets to the seat track. Just a warning, I'm not very handy so my work isn't the best haha, but it got the job done and no one has noticed.

From here, the seats was fully bolted in. I then soldered a 2ohm resistor to each of the factory airbag sensors to stop the light.

Then realized that I would need the main wiring harness from my stock seats so sadly had to take the seats back out. First I removed the main harness and seat belt from the 15 seats. Then did the same with my 2012 stock seats. I swapped over the passenger side bladder and also the seat belt onto the new seats. Then connected all of the 2012 harnesses and ziptied the now unused sensors (old seats were power). The last thing i had to transfer from the 2012 seats was the seat position sensor. It's magnetized and only connected by a few screws.

Finished Product!

For all I know I'm probably forgetting a few things, but as I remember I'll add them in.

Looks good but doesn't disabling the airbag kinda defeat the purpose? Why not go with an aftermarket seat for cheaper?

Seat look great. Did you try bolting up your factory seat tracks before cutting up the 15's tracks?

Thanks!

2 reasons haha. 1 I got them for dirt cheap on craigslist and fell in love with them. And 2, from what I read only the airbag in the seat should be disabled

Looks good

Thanks!

Yes that was the original plan. Sadly they're completely different and wouldn't work out

Has anyone else done this? I just installed a set of the ford racing recaros for 2015 in my 2013. Car won't turn over when the passenger side is plugged in and a message displays on the gauge cluster saying to check the charging system. Drivers side has no effect and I'm able to start the car with it plugged in. Thoughts?

So call me crazy, but I actually want to put 2015 premium seats into my 14 GT vert.. I have a 2015 also and I LOVE the seats.... do you think the bracketing and everything would be the same? would i have to go through the same issues?

Your install would be exactly the same as the 2012.

Not true. I just got these installed in my 2013. Mounting for 2011-2012 vs. 2013-2014 is different. You do not want to cut the front portion of the rail off for a 2013-2014. I made brackets using 1/8"x1.25" angle iron like the OP did but I needed the front portion of the rails to mount to. The rear install follows the same procedure as mentioned before..just cut off the alignment tabs and the rears bolt right in. I'm still working on the electrical issue with the passenger side. Working closely with my local ford dealer (Bowen's Garage/Juggernaut Power in Eastford, CT) so I'll update this thread once we've found the proper solution.

Is anyone on here willing to make one of these custom drivers side seat airbag delete resistor plugs for me? (Drivers side).

I will ship you the dongle (XF2Z-14B022-AA) + PayPal you $ for parts and your time. If anyone here that has successfully made one could please PM I would really appreciate it.

Only needed for the drivers side seat airbag delete!!

For anyone that has put the 15+ recaros into an S197, is there any way to correctly wire the side airbags so they will function correctly?

I'm looking at doing this install in my 2014 GT. If you have any pics that be great. Was the electrical issue resolved? I was under the impression that the wiring harness was the same between the 2013-14 and the 2015-17.
