Could you elaborate for the benefit of those who may be scratching their head?
I had a stat problem similar to this in tech school. If you set it up as an equation you'll end up getting -.75 or -3/4. 3/4 of a year is 9 months. So the kid is -9 months old. LMAO
Because the math works out that the baby is negative 9 months old, i.e. being conceived.
To be fair, I probably couldn't do the math from scratch. It just looked familiar, so I assumed the answer was that the child was being conceived, added 6 years to -9 months and then added 6 years to 20.25 years (the age of the mother minus the 9 months) and got approx. 5.93 for the kids age and 29.69 for the moms age, or roughly 5 times the kids age.
Where did you get 5.93 and 29.69? It should be 5.25 and 26.25.
I originally put calculated it as months and then converted it to years, so the decimals came out slightly different, if that makes sense. But yes, 5.25 and 26.25 is more accurate.
Edit: actually I just did the math over again and didn't get those weird numbers, so I'm not sure what I did the first time haha. Must have fat-fingered the calculator.

Your math is still wrong.
72 months - 9 months=63 months. 63 months/12 months per year= 5.25 years
See edit. I screwed something up the first time I did it haha. I'm still trying to figure out what I did wrong. When I do it now, the numbers come out right: 5.25 and 26.25.
Regardless, I don't know the "from scratch" equation. I kind of already suspected the punch line and went from there.
