Prefer the left because I'm old; my house has the right.
I can operate either one efficiently. I am gifted.
Left, with a dimmer beside of the on/off. That's what's in my house, very handy.
Were going to pretend that they "NEVER EXISTED" booming echoing voice
But seriously the right can have a touch and slide dimmer within the sqaure
My house has the ones on the left but when we did our back splash in the kitchen we used the style on the right. I would say I prefer the ones on the right because they are easier to turn on and off, not that the other ones are hard but these are easier. I think they give the switch a cleaner look but its all preference.

Right, with a sliding dimmer switch.
At my shop i changed all the light switches to the one on the right, it's easier to turn on and off when your hands are dirty.. My house has ones on the left, but if I built the house I would do the ones on the right... Do not use white, that's so 2000s.. Lol

I converted all the lights in my house to run on 4,000Volts DC @ 4,000Hz. Stepping it up the right amount and then rectifying it to achieve the targeted DC voltage was tough. But, on the plus-side fo the column, I can now arc-weld with two wires from an outlet. Anytime, anyplace, in the whole house.

I guess im the minority? My lights are controlled via intelligent home on my phone. Yeah im lazy…….
