Not really a race, but more of a couple of quick runs. First, I saw a grey challenger in my rear view, and with traffic clear ahead, I pulled away from 2nd gear into 4th. Got a chatting with the lady about her car. Then further down the road, we were side by side at around 55mph. She hit it, next to me with my windows down. Wow, her car is loud. As soon as she floored it and got about 1/2 car on me, I floored it in third, and pulled on her pretty easily through 4th gear.

This was my only my second time with anything close to a race. Stock vs stock, my car was just a little quicker.

Dr. Google says this about the scat pack

Model: Model: 2015 Dodge R/T Scatpack Challenger

Model: 2012 Mustang GT500
Curb weight: 3,820 to 3,969 lbs

Please turn in your Mustang card for having 65 more HP and weighing 200 pounds less and squeaking out a win...Driver Mod?

What part of "I floored it in third, and pulled on her pretty easily through 4th gear." equates to squeaking out a win?

Actually, I thought it would've been closer.

But I guess on average, there's about a 4-5 mph difference in 1/4 mile trap speeds. That seems pretty accurate from the short runs I had.

Good kill, not sure about your 12 GT500, but the Chally should be good for mid 12s at about 112 or so, when properly driven.

Exactly. And a stock 2012 GT500 traps around 117. So, the result was as expected. The only thing I didn't expect was how damn loud that scat pack exhaust sounded. When she floored it next to me with my windows down, it scared the crap out of me. It's a really nice car. Looks great, and sounds great, and is quick. And it didn't hurt that the driver was cool too.

I play with one a month ago going through town, to much traffic to do any serious pulls, but we tap the pedal a couple times would be close but i still think i can take it... I think your GT500 on a bad day would toast him good kill.

I guess this jumps out at me but your description does claim you pulled easily...Just giving you a hard time...

Ah, well that splains it. To me, how a car that has about a 5 mph faster trap speed pulls away from the other car, is within the realm of "a little quicker".

Low 12's at 117mph, is a little quicker than mid 12's at 112 mph.

I guess quickness is in the eye of the beholder.

My nephew thought his 85 IROC was quick. Until he almost shat himself when I took him for a ride in my stock GT500.

8-Speed auto keeps them in their power band longer and more efficiently. I had a 2012 charger 392 superbee and that car would have edged me in the 1/4 mile without my drag radials. I best I did with my 2011 GT500 was 13.3 stock, and 12.9 with my charger stock. Better rubber got me in the low 12s with the GT500. Your outcome is the typical result, the 392 pulls hard mid range, but the Shelby dominates on the top end. This is just from my experience.

Results are as expected. From a dig through the 1/4 would probably be a different outcome. From a roll the Shelby dominates.

I had an encounter with a Scatpack once and it wasn't pretty due to the driver I assumed. It was a six speed manual. We race from a light twice and both times the Challenger was all over the place fighting for traction. By the time I was on top of second gear I was so far ahead it just wasn't worth the fuel. I am sure the A8 Scatpacks are faster but then again my car is no longer stock so against a stock A8, I think my car still comes out on top.

I wanted a scatpack but the clowns at the dodge dealer wouldn't let me test drive it. They were treating it like the holy grail of their dealer shit.

The dealer quote un quote said: "I drove that exact car. It's fast. it's mean. It was the fastest car I've ever driven... You don't need to test drive it. Trust me."

I lol'ed and walked out.

Before I bought my 2012 gt500, I had the same problem trying to test drive a zl1 camaro. Nobody would let me drive one. I guess they had people lining up to buy without a test drive.
