1st rule of racing. Never add power without adding traction, do you have decent tires? If he's a good driver and a smart one he will pick a low roll or dig.

Someone school me, how do LS motors make more power NA than Coyotes? People go the distance on yotes trying to achieve 500RWHP as it is.

I'm on michelin pilot sport s. i hate roll racing but i know i'm at a disadvantage from a dig so, want to get a speed where i'm in the middle or near the top of second. i think that will be my best bet the way the car sits.

So even with the tech in the yotes, were still destined to lose mod for mod?

depends. The LS motors are insane up to a certain point (500whp for LS6s, about 600whp for LS7s) NA. After that it takes boost/motor build, and it can stack up quick. So mod for mod, shelbys will probably edge em out. LS motors outshine a coyote NA, yes. But Corvettes have so much success due to their weight. Camaros make power but they weigh more.

True, I don't consider Mustangs and Vettes to be in the same league, due to the weight difference as you said.

Thanks for the insight.

the main difference between a Coyote and LS motors is the ability to pick up big hp by changing the cam in the LS.

OP you'll get beat if you stay they way you sit.

been street racing for almost 30 years now. crazy to me how far technology has come. i never would have thought that a cam, tune and exhaust would bring a 426 hp car to my level...that's a 140 hp jump! Great times we live in. And i'll do whatever i have to do to make sure this gm crap doesn't beat me.

Justin or BJ will set you right, dont worry too much about the start, you will reel him in quick, stock shifter sucks so just try ro hit your gears, be prepared to shift fast too, these things rev out quick.

Yeah, bounced it off the rev limiter for the first time the other day. Just jumped up on me...lol. Have an appointment to see Justin on friday to make a plan. Going to talk to him about putting a proper shift light in for me as well. Maybe a shifter swap also.

Not really sure what you mean. You can build the top end of a Yote and put down 500whp. A fully built Yote will put down over 600whp. It's just an expensive route to take. LSX might have more tq, but yote has a broader power band that can make up for that.

FI is a game changer, for sure. The Yote responds better to a centri than an LSX does

I think you need more tire, a tune and a pulley to come up on top. You can also just race him, see how you do and mod accordingly. As it seats, I think the Camaro will edge you out.

I have a 2011 gt500 with 2.5 pulley exhaust and intake with a tune and I have pulled every cammed exhaust camaro from where I live. If you pulley swap with ur intake u should have no problem with his car. Most ls3 camaros with cam and bolt ons put down high 400 low 500 whp

Cams wake up LS cars beyond belief. It's a whole different car.

And only having one makes it very affordable.
So wouldn't a set of cams in the yotes also make a comparable amount of power, since there's two? Or is the cam a bottleneck for LS motors?

Still a newbie here, trying to learn as much as I can.
