Magic Show
Hellion will debut its Voodoo twin-turbo system on Engine Power TV

Ford Performance engineered the Shelby GT350’s Voodoo engine for spine-tingling rpm on a road course, but that hasn’t stopped the industrious people in the aftermarket from boosting its performance with power adders. So far we have seen centrifugal supercharging, positive-displacement supercharging and nitrous injection. That isn’t the end of the power-adder 5.2-liter tale, however...

This weekend on Engine Power TV, which airs Sunday August 28 at 9:30 a.m. on Spike, Hellion Power Systems will reveal the installation details and dyno results of its new twin-turbo system for the latest Shelby.

“We decided to develop a GT350 system because a car of this magnitude definitely needs to be turbocharged!” John Urist, President of Hellion, explained. “Upon initial investigation we saw that our 2015-2016 GT kit would fit very well with a few changes, so we decided to turbocharge the Voodoo engine.”

The Hellion Eliminator twin-turbo system for the 2015-2017 Shelby GT350 is a bolt-on system that features two 55mm Precision turbos and two 46mm wastegates. While the system is visually similar to the company’s system for the 2015+ Mustang GT, this system was designed specifically for the new GT350’s exhaust.

“The system differs from a GT system in the location of the connection to the factory headers,” John said. “We have some different hot pipes, but the basic look of the system is the same.”

Not only does a turbo system not engage with the notoriously raucous flat-plane crankshaft, but it offers easily scalable boost should you be brave enough to turn up the wick on the 8,250-rpm Voodoo engine.

“We were successful at making great power with the 5.2 engine. We know you can boost it, but it needs to be done with the proper ECU tune that we will supply,” he said. “If everyone tunes into Engine Power on Sunday morning, they will be greatly impressed with the rear-wheel horsepower and they’re going to like the power curve even more!”

Of course, we are just as curious about the results of a turbocharged, FPC 5.2-liter as you are, but we are going to have to wait. This weekend’s episode of Engine Power on Power Nation TV will cover the installation and dyno testing, and it sounds like to will be appointment television for Shelby GT350 fans who are contemplating boost.

“The system will be tagged as the GT350 Eliminator kit. Right now we are taking deposits for the first orders. Once in stock systems will ship within a couple weeks. Introductory pricing will be $9,995 for a complete system,” John added. “As with all the Hellion kits there will be many options and ways to customize it to your liking. And the best part about this kit is that we don’t yank on the front of the exotic Flat-Plane Crank!”

UPDATE: The episode aired and the Hellion-boosted GT350R put down over 723 horsepower and 654 lb-ft of torque on 9 pounds of boost. If you missed the episode, it will be posted online a 10 a.m. on September 4 right here.

Is it going to be smog legal for California?

Im pretty sure farting won't even be smog legal in Cali soon.

Itll be interesting to see what it makes but I get the feeling its gonna be a TT setup making like 6psi lol

Ya but even 6psi through 61's should make 650-700whp on these engines though. Not that that's going to win over the 69psi 99.9L kennebell shelby guys, but it's still excellent power.

The whipple setup lethal did made 819whp on 11.6psi iirc. I can easily see a turbo gt350 making 850-875+whp on 12psi.

Remember that boost is only a measure of restriction, not flow. This thing has some pretty serious heads / cams, and the exhaust side flows incredibly well which will help feed a good sized turbo. This engine's ability to flow, plus VVT technology means you can spool a good sized turbo relatively quickly, so i would not be surprised if "only 6 psi" was over 700.

Yes but the whipple is far from ideal on the Voodoo engine

and with their kit you can ONLY run it on E85, which is a no-go for 95% of my customers interested.

Hellion is the way to go on the 5.2, and the power #s are INCREDIBLE for pump gas hehehehehe

Im a turbo fan through and through. It's not that supercharger can't make great power, it's just that turbocharged setups can make greater power. This is a known science. The difficulty is in the setup and design. Get that right, and turbo is the more efficient, power dense setup.

still, if I don't see 1 million whp, I won't be impressed (satire)

After driving a Ferrari 488GTB in Vegas (while wearing a Shelby shirt ;-) ), I can tell you flat plane cranks and TT power is quite impressive.
I like this much more than hanging a SC crank pulley on the 5.2, looking forward to the results!

ProCharger is making a kit for the GT350 running on 93 Octane.

The sounds that Ferrari designs to expel out of their exhausts are musical. There is no other car on the road that sounds anything like a Ferrari (especially the V8 mid engine models, 360,430,458,488)

They may not all be the fastest cars, but they are easily my absolute favorite cars.
