Few Questions after Vortech Install..

Ok long story short we took my wife's 13 Gt auto and added a vortech, JLT intake, ID1000's, BAP, O/R X pipe and outlaw axle back kit. On the dyno the car made 8psi...598hp/489tq which is respectable.

The issue is I'm new to these cars and still learning, I'm old 5.0 and lightning guy but love these new mustangs. So the car has some hesitation and jerking motion at part/mid throttle, almost like its loading up and in between making boost and shifting (hard to explain but breaking up some). When you give it a little gas its lines out and is fine and WOT is fine. Looking at the dyno graph I was surprised how the graph looked, its jagged as hell all the way up like a jig saw blade, as to where I am use to a very smooth graph. I was told all these cars have similar graphs with the variable timing but I am skeptical this is correct. Anyone else have these issues with drive ability in an auto or jagged dyno graphs??? Tuner is willing to fix but I would like to know for myself what's possibly going on here. I am assuming the TB and MAF need some additional tuning but not sure.

I have ordered a torque booster kit that should go on this weekend since I wanted more low end torque and a little more hp and was hoping it my help with tuning this issue out as well. Any advice or comments are welcome...

Can you post the dyno graph, or at least tell us what the value for smoothing was. A un-smoothed graph will be very wavy

Just out of curiosity, what gears do you have? I was thinking of a torque booster when I bought the kit but with the 3.73s and the MT82 it gets into the boost real quick.

Stock 3.15 gears, I talked to plenty of guys about a gear change and with the 6 speed auto its not really needed. I am betting the TB kit makes a huge difference down low and mid range...I'll have dyno graphs to compare lol.

who is tuning it?

Local tuner...he's usually very good and sure he will line this out but wanted to get a jump on the situation, not blaming or bitching just curious as to what the issue may be. He tuned my lightning to 800rwhp on E85 and my 95 mustang is there now doing a 363ci and 80mm turbo set up on that one.

I bet it will make a nice difference. Wonder if anyone has done a wastegate on a Procharger. Always looking for ways to tweak it.

It is my understanding that the part-throttle driveability issues is mostly due to the turbulent air from the blow-through MAF placement/design. Mine was the exact same way when I had a Vortech.

I am not having any part throttle issues at all with the procharger and lund tune. I think it's the same maf placement as the vortech.

I thought the Procharger kit placement was along the straight edge of the intercooler, no? I'm not very familiar with those kits.

On the Vor/Pax kits, it's after some 90 degree elbows coming out of the cold side of the intercooler heading up toward the throttle body.

My bad. Did not see placement of maf on vortech before. Yes, with the procharger it is mounted into the passenger side of the intercooler.

most go with a smoothing of 5, this is why lines look smoother, for a smoothing rate of 2 yours look fine.

It does look like you are losing a lot of power past 6800rpm, if you are still on the stock manifold you should ditch it and go with a Boss manifold so you can keep making power up top. I can see you making 610-620 around 7500rpm with the boss manifold with little changes to your tune. Maybe a little bit of VCT optimizing up top for some extra HP, but for the most part the manifold alone will free up that top end power

If you are on the stock TB no TB adjustments are needed. If your kit puts the MAF in the intercooler your tuner needs to be spend some time on that MAF curve, I prefer a traditional blow through set up.

+1. Still pulling hard at 7000 with the Boss Mani. Boost keeps climbing right to 7500. Limiter is set for 7750 but I try not to bounce off the limiter.

I was assuming it was in the MAF or TB but the TB is stock so its got to be the MAF..shouldn't be so hard to fix with a few data logs.

Boss intake is in the future plans...for now just a torque booster and maybe a converter this weekend. Once this tune is dialed in and the TB kit I'll hit 610-620rwhp and over 500rwtq...should be good for low 11's without a converter and high 10's with one. It's the wife's car so I didn't go all out with it just yet lol.

Just a small update, car was dropped off this morning for some more data logging to fix the flutter mid throttle. We also got the Torque Booster kit installed so I should have an updated dyno with before and after set up comparison. The plan is to take the car and my lightning to the track this week and see how her car runs next to my truck...should be fun!!! No way she beats my lightning just saying but she may give me a good run!!!

It's all in the tune. I would try to talk to beefcake or aed, I'm sure they could get it straightened out
