16 I still have the car I'm 30 now. 92 GT 5.0. Bought it from my neighbor. I've thought about selling it a few times but figured I'd regret it.

I've also had a 96 GT I called the red headed step child had issues with it. Slow as balls neighbors hated it. SLP LM1's with a BBK O/R X. Traded it in on a 01 Cobra. Wanted a terminator but couldn't afford it back in 06. Loved the 01 all I ever did was general maintenance, and a few small things but ran great. Sold it and bought my terminator.

I was 17. I was at the Ford dealer and saw a 01 bullitt sitting there on the showroom floor. And the rest is history.

What's a mustang? lol
Mom had a 66 inline 6, those were 250 CI?
My first was a 85 GT with a whopping 225 HP. I was 26 I think.

15, we were at a family beach trip and saw it for sale. Cabernet red 89 GT five speed. I was even more excited to drive it home by myself due to my mom and dad both driving separate cars down. Best 3 cruise still to this day.

16. I had saved up $1800 over the course of the previous 2 years while working two jobs through high school. I was entering college and needed a car to get me there as well as work. My father handed me two torn-out ads from the local newspaper- 88 Z28 Camaro or a 90 Mustang LX 2.3l- both $1500 and 130k mileage. I said I wanted the Z28 because the 4-cyl would have no power. He crumpled up the Camaro ad and handed me the one for the Mustang.

That weekend we drove out 40 miles to see the Mustang, which was covered in snow, quite rusted, and didn't want to start. It had been parked for a while. My father took it for a test drive. I still remember sitting in the passenger seat thinking "oh God this thing is horrendous." He talked the guy down to $1400, wrote him a $200 check for a deposit, and told him to fix several things and we'd pick it up the following weekend.

We drove back out to pick it up the following weekend. The seller handed back the deposit check and I handed over 14x $100 bills. Painful. On the drive home, the oil pan started disintegrating and we kept having to pull over and add oil. We got it home, my father and I looked through it, and he put together a list of parts we needed. A few days later he handed me a printed out spreadsheet with the parts, pricing, estimates on college books, and the auto insurance cost amortized into a monthly payment- $205/mo. He knew the repair costs would sink me, so he offered me an interest free loan on everything, telling me he'd take the keys if I missed a payment.

The damn car fell apart on me over the course of the next two years. Exhaust rotted off and wrapped around the axle, ignition went out, alternator died, rear drum brakes corroded to the 5th plane of hell, virtually every gauge died, fuel pump died, the list goes on. My account balance throughout college ranged from $0 to $50 on a good week.

Man, at the time I thought he was being a hardass but in retrospect it was a wise thing to do. I still have that piece of paper. If I ever have kids someday, they're getting the same lesson.

In January of '91 I bought an '88 5-speed GT hatch with 30k miles for $8500. Payments were $251 a month. Loved that car for the 3 years I had it. Popped my Flowmaster cherry on that one. Others have been an '87 GT conv., a '90 LX 5.0, a built '94 Cobra 347, and my '14 GT. Had a '66 GT coupe for 15 years in there, and I've had my '66 coupe since '92. That one is almost "done"...

19. Graduated high school then started looking for another car. Parents said I couldn't buy another old car. So I started looking for a new one. Though I really didn't like modern cars at all. Worked on a 07 GT Grabber Orange 5spd, that was the closest to looking like a classic. Plus it was the first modern car that I thought, wow. Tried to buy it but owner didn't want to sell it at the time. To add insult to injury he lived across the street from where I work. So I got to see a car I lusted after for every day. Told him that if came up for sale I want it.
So started looking at 05-09 Mustangs. Had to be a V8. Then started doing research. Read about Roush, Shelby, Steeda, Saleen, and Sherrod. Decided I liked the look of the Roush the most. So started searching for one on eBay. Found one, didn't buy it. Second one, didn't buy it. Third was a 427R, didn't have enough funds ready. Sale ended then was relisted. Bought it, new eBay seller 0 sales 0% feedback. Flew up to Boston to get it. The idiot didn't want to pick me up, told me to get a cab.

Day it got home after being at the dent shop, and a good cleaning. Car wasn't taken care of very well. Maybe a reason why it was 9 grand less than the others on eBay. Liked it a lot. Got my first speeding ticket with 36 hours of ownership, in it doing 20 over in a targeted enforcement area no less. Running late from lunch. Promised myself it will remain stock. That promise was broken about a week after I got it. Now I have a full build planned for it.
Then about two years later, 21, the Grabber orange GT came up for sale. Bought it, and enjoying it as a good weather daily.

I don't intend on selling them ever. I came close to trading the Roush a couple of times, but couldn't do it.
Somewhat of a shortish story about the Roush, and the GT.
Very happy with both my little 3Vs.

First mustang was a new 2001 Cobra. Bought it in May, 2001. I had just turned 24. I learned manual on that car too. Had to have my friend drive it home from the dealership.lol.

Great practice, but I wouldn't allow my kid to buy an absolute turd just because it was slow. Not unless I was trying to prove another lesson on paying a little more upfront. Shouldn't keep your kid poor to teach a lesson.

Anyhow I was 23 when I bought my 94 GT as a birthday present to me. It was $2300 - so this is why I quoted. In the long run I should've spent more. It ended up being gorgeous and very fast, but fighting the constant cancer was abismle. In the end you have a bunch of coin in a not so nice car.

Car was 14yrs old at the time for reference.

It's hard to believe that our beloved Terminator is knocking on 14 years old

I bought my 1st Mustang GT brand new in 95...I was 28, then had two more GT's then in 03 drove a brand new DSG convertible off the lot.

Then picked up another black and tan 03 Vert 5 years ago.

I just turned 49, and I still enjoy my 14 year old Mustang...even washed her up today. She's not a daily driver but still has enough interest for me (along with other toys: boating, RV'ing, motorcycles, 2 beautiful daughters etc!) to never let her go

It's funny, but there are very few 14 year old cars that still do what that car does for me

How bout you?
I got a 74 mustang II in 1996 for my 16th birthday. Bought an 85gt in 2001, a 94 cobra in 2004, a ln 89 fox in 2008 and another 94 cobra.

My first Mustang was a black '91 GT I bought in '93. I absolutely loved that car. It got totaled when a guy ran a red light and t-boned me at 50mph. I've since had 4 more including my current black '15 GT which I also love.

Edit: I was 21.

I got my 1987 LX 5.0 a month before I turned 17 back in 1997. It's still in the family to this day.

First car was a 1969 cougar, almost a pony car by all rights.
I had to wait til I was 19 and I picked up a 97 Gt. Loved that car. It was so slow though.
My next two are a 04 mach1 bought new and it got totaled. Then onto the 04 mach1 I got now . I don't think I can ever part with it.
