Has anyone done this recently? I know its kind of on the expensive side but I do know from putting this type of coating on my fire arms that its very dorable. Just not really sure if its worth putting it on a car. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks!

Speedwagon, I have to say having your ride ceramic coated is a great idea. I had my 2017 GT ProPak done with cquartz ceramic coating. I plan on having my 1986 Gt done also (6200 original miles) . I have found found myself caught in a couple of rainstorms after I had it coated , you would think that I just had come out of a car wash .
What is the cost involved?? I hear $1500 is the going rate. Can you confirm?

I paid around $500 , I found a true professional detailer who only deals on high end new cars .
Just had this done to my 4Runner and have it lined up for my Cobra in the spring.
I paid $1150. That included stage 1 correction, polish, wax followed by the Ceramic Pro.
Worthy every penny IMHO. Makes for washing that much easier each time and you have protection for 5 years.

So they put a wax on BEFORE the coating? Generally you Wash, Clay/Decontaminate and compound/polish away all swirls then use an IPA or paint prep and apply the coating to the bare paint. Otherwise the coating will not bond if there are underlying chemicals.
Coatings are a great way to make your car easier to clean. There is some hype out there that they can minimize/reduce some scratches and swirl marks. I would say that is overhype. Any "protection" to scratches and swirls is pretty minimal. The hard/difficult part of coatings are the paint correction before hand. Reputable detailers will not coat on swirls so a lot of time is spent to correct the swirls safely. This could be a one step for a well maintained car to multiple steps to get the paint just right. So it could be $500 and up depending on the amount of work and the type of coating.
I had my daily driver, '16 Ram Sport 4X4, regular cab done with Cquartz Finest on the whole exterior of the truck, including wheels. It was expensive, almost 1,000 bucks, but so very worth it!

I'm getting mine done. But I'm going to see about also doing a clear bra up front. From what I've read coating helps a bunch with washing, some protection but not necessarily rock chips, scratches etc. so up front I'm still considering a clear bra. I also don't have a black roof so I'm having that wrapped with a carbon fiber design. So thinking ceramic coating around most the car, clear bra up front, carbon fiber wrap on roof...and still need windows tinted. Guess I'm gonna have a bill....
