I thought I blew my motor but it may be rings or valve seats ?

So here's where I'm at.
03' Cobra
2.3 whipple, meth injection
20-21 psi

While racing, my meth ran out. And car started blowing a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust. I thought I melted a piston or something crazy like that, but I just ran a bore scope and all pistons look brand new. And you can still see the honing marks on the cylinder walls.

1 piston had visible oil on it, not standing oil, just looked wet.

So, my question is, where do I go now ? I'm going to compression test it tomorrow but wanted to touch bad with the community and see if anyone else has had this issue.

Thanks in advance

Also, wanted to add that the car didn't over heat at all. Temps were all normal.

Shifted into 3rd and car just had ZERO power and a miss.

Once pulled off, I had oil leaking out of the passenger side valve cover breather. And engine was running if a plug was bad, or coil pack was bad. Basically was running rough as if a cylinder was dead.

Something that was unexpected is there is not a knock, tick, slap, or any kind of engine noise.

I have not drained the oil yet, that will be don't tomorrow as well and I'll cut the filter open and inspect it.

Anything else that I may be missing , just let me know.

too early to tell. compression test, then pull the heads off. might be lucky with just a blown head gasket.

Compression test/leak down will tell you what happened. Mine did something similar and made no noise and I had melted a tiny bit of the piston.

Sounds like when I cracked my head between intake and exhaust valves in cylinder 2. Hopefully your luck is better than mine.

That's for the input, after work today, I'll do the compression and leak down test and report back.

A shameless plug for Malcolm. His box was made for exactly what happened to you.

https://www.svtperformance.com/forums/threads/lean-protection-module.909075/

That and the Vampire box saved me so many times. Sorry to hear man but running out of meth at full tilt while racing likely means something is hosed. Depending on your setup & tune you either went lean or detonated, or both.

Unfortunately no more lean protection modules. All sold out.

Start with a compression test and do a leak down as well. Go from there.

Sorry for the long delay.

So I did a compression test, and it read 60 psi on 2 cylinders and I wanted to cry.... so before I freak out, I just wanted to hear from the group that I'm doing this correct.

Pull fuel fuse, WOT, crank for about 4 revolutions.
I also have ALL SPARK PLUGS REMOVED so the engine can turn freely.

The motor is cold, probably 35-40 degrees. My garage is not heated. So I'm not sure how much that will play in the factor.

Also, does anyone know what the compression should be ?

yep, that's not good. I am guessing the other cylinders you read 120-140 psi?

I think it's time to pull the heads off .....

I really need to get off my ass and install mine...gauge is already in place and wires into the glove box. Ive got the 2 step harness pinned out, just need to fish it through the firewall and hook it up.

he said a lot of white smoke, so blown gasket seems likely

Yes, I tested the front 2 cylinders on the Driver side, both at 60 psi. I DID NOT test others because I assumed the worse and wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly.

I feel like, at this point, I need to just pull the motor. Any work from here will consist of that anyways, correct.

Also, I'll be having a SNOW PERFORMANCE kit for sale. I'm going to go with e85 and be done with this bull ish. 100% my fault.

Keep going. If you're doing something wrong you'll get 60 PSI on the other cylinders too. If not you'll have some data to work with.
I will say in stead of just 4 cranks I let the motor pop over about 6 or 7 times. Usually I have my son watch the gauge and report when the pressure quits climbing. Anywhere from 5 to 7 does it.

I have had a faulty gauge read LOW before. Don't use an old gauge.

Malcolm is right.....you need to test all cylinders. Also, crank it over 7 times. Let it keep cranking until the gauge stops climbing.

With the white smoke a blown head gasket is very likely. Pistons might be OK.

MY guage is long enough i can route it under the wiper so I can watch it as I crank. Like they said keep testing. That way you have a better idea of what else failed or if you method is flaw.
