Just south of Kansas City Missouri.
We sold off all three of them recently. Both parents have other full time jobs this was more of a passive investment, paid for ALOT of stuff and got out. Owned them from 1994 to 2015. My grandparents had one since the middle 1950s, my aunt and uncle currently still own and run that store.
I miss the conventions in Hawaii the most. So much fun.
It's a long, expensive process. But will be worth every penny and hour spent.

Now that is badass. Props to you. That's the only job I've always dreamed of, minus the military part but it's the only way to get the hours needed to fly commercial. I have a PPL-H and about 60 hours in a schweizer 333. It sure felt like I had many more then that, now it's just a hopeless dream.
I love my job, and I like who I work for the most part. I'm a locomotive engineer for a class 1 railroad, been railroading for just over 18 years and been behind the throttle for 15 years now. I make very good money and have excellent benefits, but it can be very hard on the family from being gone quite a bit. The job can be very stressful at times, but every two weeks when I get paid, I remember why I do this job.
It's actually incredible how fast the weeks the months the years have just flown by since I finally found a job i actually love. I work with awesome people and their reputation and workmanship is second to none which to me is a big deal. I make good money but Its the last thing on my mind, like literally lol I usually go deposit my checks every 2-3 weeks.
Thanks man. On the outside, it's tough, but It can be done. I think most get their CFI and go teach at a flight school to build their hours. I could see it taking a while if you had a busy life/work schedule though. Best of luck, if you ever start back up.

Been working for myself for a couple years now. I guess if I don't like it I'm the only one to blame. Lol
Ya it's the only way to rack up hundreds of hours as a civilian, my uncle is a CFI and there's no way I would do that lol. And If i was hiring a pilot the military pilot would be the only choice, and for any job for that matter. My grandfather flew for the sheriffs department for 20+ years and he always had his own and had a flight school so thats the only reason I was able to obtain my license.
To me our military pilots are the most highly skilled individuals on the planet.
Driver Manager for a trucking company. I enjoy it, jeans and t-shirts every day, it's relaxed. My co-workers and boss are good people we get along great. The 50-55 hrs a week kind of suck, but it pays off with what the wife and I all have.
I like my job now. Started a construction company this year. The main thing I hated about being a project manager was getting stuck with subs that my boss had used for years that were incompetent. Now that I'm writing the check, I get to be more selective with who I use. I also get to turn down shitty jobs that used to annoy me.
Well I was happy when I was doing structural modifications on B1 Bombers and depot level maintenance on F/A-18's; however, I had to take a more permanent and non-relocating type position inside the same company. Now I'm doing decorative paint on 787's and pretty much hate life. Location's good, pay good, sometimes it's fun, but overall I work with mostly young ass people that just go out and drink literally everyday of the week and sit around and play xbox, while here I am into spending my money on my car and raising a family; it's very hard to relate to people like that. On top of that, I have to work almost every weekend. I have had off I think 9 days this year and I'm scheduled this second to work the next 4 weekends. Before I was away from my family a bit with the old job, but I made per diem and all that. With this, what's the point of being together if you never get to see each other. Furthermore, I'm on opposing schedules as my wife now. Took this job for my child though so I could have something steady for him to grow up without moving.
Love my job I honestly look forward to going in every day. I feel like I can do some good for people and the community. It does get repetitive sometimes, but when a good case comes in things can get interesting. I love getting to investigate things and work with various law enforcement agencies to build good cases. Im very lucky to have my job.
Dang, you've got lab, biomed, respiratory & imaging cred. Add dialysis, you'll be able to get work anywhere!
I love the iU22 & iE33 ... AFTER the C-cart versions! Holy cow, the A, B & C carts kept me busy, what with the HOST, SIP, and RIP, and the never-to-be-sufficiently-damned Dolphin cards! After that, though, they ran away with the market and are _still_ the ones to beat for reliability, ease of use and ease of repair. Except for the vault for the front-end, that gives me the willies every time I have to put it back on. Never bent a pin yet, but don't ask me how I've avoided it.
I love my job. I've been here almost 11 years. Previously I've never stayed anyone more than 3.
The salary is amazing, and the benefits blow anything else away.

Love my job!
Long story short, Was a porter(Shop B***h) for a local ford dealership, mopping,Washing cars,Chasing parts,Etc.... for 2 years, The General Manager hated my work ethic because I would wonder off to the techs work area and watch what they were doing, asked questions about the repairs they did and operations of parts etc, fixing broke shit really interested me lol , and 1 day the GM and i had a LOUD disagreement, and I quit.
2 months later the Senior Tech came knocking at my door asking me to be his helper, He said he would take care of the GM for me if I came.
Following week I started as a helper.
8.5 years later I left the Senior Tech to be a Lead Tech for a large EMS Ambulance Company 1hr away from my home, that was 1 of the hardest decisions I ever made because I started there not knowing what an oil drain plug was, and left knowing how to rebuild engines,transmissions, lifting cabs, fabricating service bodies to fit, you name the repair, and I learned and did them, all thanks to the Senior Tech who gave me that Chance.
For my new job, i Drove 2 hours everyday for 5 years!.Pay was awesome! Was making roughly 97k a year! LOTS OF OVERTIME!
Basic benefits.
And 5 years after that I finally had the opportunity I always wanted, A Mechanic position for a hometown Phone/Fiber/DSL company that I DREAMED of having when I worked at the ford dealership, I applied but never had a chance because they only had 1 mechanic, and up until last year, he retired after 28yrs of him working there!

As a mechanic I also had a badass Matco toolbox, lots of tools, snap on, cornwell,Matco, ETC, so y'all know I had a too large bill every week/month I racked up over the years, Well the company I work for now paid it completely off for me and my family even!
1 of the fun things about it also is alot of people are retiring, 5 since my first year and still alot left to retire very soon in the coming year(s)and the people now getting hired are my school class mates and current friends even lol
And my shop is all mine! I have my own rules, organized to my liking, just love it! And can even bring my personal vehicles to work on up there, and my friends cars, etc.....
Not only am I a mechanic, i take care of the plant grounds, buildings, help out other departments if I want, it's the most laid back atmosphere of a job you'll ever hear of, I can come into work, from 7-5 and leave for my daugthers ballet practice, run errands, etc on the clock even as long as I have all my work done with.
I took a large pay decrease switching to this job, But the benefits I get everyday, are 100% worth it, and I work every day with a smile on my face.....

4stang6 thanks for sharing. Tough to give up that pay, but the ancillary benefits look well worth it (the pension alone for a private sector job is awesome, my company has one but doesn't match like yours!). Glad to hear it's paying off.
