Yes.

A simple bolt-on 5.0 with slicks/skinnies will run into the 11's with a good driver. I don't see a bolt-on mach beating a well driven modded coyote. I CAN see a modded Mach 1 edging out a stock 5.0, but, nothing dramatic like multiple car lengths or a tenth or so quicker at the track.

I know this comments going to make Zyborg upset again (especially since I don't have a video for him) but my experience has been that the 5.0 slightly edges out the mach but at the end of the day it IS a drivers race, they are much closer than you might think.

Keep in mind, I've owned both, raced both, modded both.

My mach went 13.2 @ 107 MPH. stock with mufflers and larger wheels. Driver is there for sure. Well driven stock 5.0's are mid 12's @ 112-114 MPH.

I've seen plenty of low 12 mach 1's, but, going past that, we are talking full bolt-ons, weight reduction, etc.

Now, if we talk about full bolt-on 5.0's vs full bolt-on Mach's, not even really comparable IMO.

PS - I've raced bolt-on mach's in my bolt-on 5.0 and it was usually a bad outcome for the mach.

Full bolt-on mach - 330ish RWHP
Full bolt-on 5.0 -440-460 RWHP

That couple hundred pounds won't make up for that much power, unless we start comparing bad driver vs. good driver.

I'm not going to argue that, nor will I argue that the Coyote cars mod for mod are obviously faster. The more mods (equally) done to each car, the worse the outcome for the Mach. But what do you expect with such an old car/smaller motor?

With that said, I'd have no problem lining up at the track next to any lightly modded Coyote. Win or lose, it wouldn't be by much.

Im not the one trying to prove a point here. Lol.

You said bolt on mach goes 11s. Back it up.

I've got nothing to prove here to you. It can and has, I'm just curious why you think it wont. There is no logical or rational reason why.

You are making this into a big deal... lol

You said they run 11s in bolt on form and I just wanted to see some videos. NBD man.

You dont have to prove anything, I just wanted some videos. Videos make me warm inside.

Another worthwhile thing to remember is the rarity of the Mach 1 vs most other Mustangs. The more cars = more opportunity to get in the hands of capable owners.

If you like looking at videos here is my personal Mach at the track. It makes 290rwhp last time on the dyno SAE. Nothing amazing but its not got much done.

Oh and I wasn't asleep at the light, I just couldn't hear my damn car next to that "drag car" so I let him get away from me before I launched.

Pretty nice. Mach looking good. That 1/8th et should translate into a low 12s. Not bad at all.

I can see a Mach dipping into the 11s (bolt on only) if it were to be the full sausage / weight reduction / geared to moon.

I plan on accomplishing it myself at some point. Only weight reduction I had was the drag wheels and no sway bar. Everything else is original in/on the car. Stock axles, stock clutch/flywheel, etc. I would have kept going as this wasn't a great run but the only full run my stock quadrant would allow me to pull PLUS on the stock torque boxes I did not feel like continuing to chance my luck with 1.5 60's. But the quadrant was locking me out of gear so this run I was forced to short shift 1st and the mph showed. It usually traps 89mph but this run was 87mph. I changed over to a firewall adjuster and aftermarket quadrant and the locking out of gear went away, but I haven't been back to the track since. I fell out of the car thing shortly after that. But that's a different story. I'll stop rambling now.

Is always good to see a car running exceptionally well. Good luck!

Fair points, but, if an old car is maintained properly, it should have no problem beating on newer cars.

I.E. my 2005 3V had a blower on it 90% of it's life and even until I had it in 2015, it was a 10 year old car with over 60,000 miles of hard driving with a blower, headers, 4.10's, etc.

It was stout and ran great with a few issues here/there.

You miss my point. It's damn hard keeping up with technology/new cars in general.

Used to you could HCI your 302 to keep up with the 4.6. Now you are lucky to throw in the house and kitchen sink and keep up with stock shortblock cars.

Hopefully I don't step on any feelings here as Kevin and I are friends, and I know for a fact that he has the driver mod, but my man, you're ET racing with that Mach 1. The 87mph trap shows that the car isn't all that fast but that you're hooking good.

87mph in the 1/8th is close, if not at, stock Coyote speed. FWIW, my Coyote with longtubes, off-road X, cat-back and lowering springs only (and of course a sticky tire) ran a 7.7 @ 90mph. That was before the JLT and Boss IM. And at the time I was still pretty new and didn't consider myself to have the driver mod.

Just my two cents.
