Was this a race at a track? No. So just an encounter on a road. We have no reason not to believe the OP. It doesn't make sense to argue if you weren't there or don't know the road or both. Maybe the HC spun and held back a bit. Maybe the OP's car is stronger than most and the HC was trying hard as hell to catch up. Fact is we will never know. Arguing is pointless.

Perhaps you're right, but it is far fetched given most situations.

OP are you in any of the "race" FB groups for SA? Usually I'm able to find who I run into on them when I have these encounters

Its hard to believe with 315 nittos DRs that you are spinning in forth at 60mph. Im running 305 nittos same tires 730WHP and 4:10 Gears and i hook no problem and she goes!!!! Stock suspension!!

Mine will spin when cold, but once the tires are warmed up, I don't have an issue. In winter, forget it. This sombish is spinning at anything below 70.

There are certain on ramps and sections of roads that are just stupid slick though. I Had a modded V-Rod that was putting down about 120whp. I would get that thing sideways on certain areas of frontage roads here in Texas. Normally it would just lift the front, but on those areas, it would spin and get really shitty.

I am assuming it has to do with the amount of traffic in those areas. It's very concentrated and the roads collect a lot of garbage as a result.

I work in the asphalt paving industry and when it comes to the high heat and high volume roads the pavement is very hard (liquid ashpalt) im talking. That could contribute to the slick spots im guessing. The rock and also sand that you guys have out there makes a huge difference too. There is your paving lesson for the day ladies and gentleman hahahaha. Out there i am figuring that temps dont really drop all that low (less than 60?), which should help that traction especially with DRs.
Drop your pressures down to the low 20s if its hot out if you are at 26 im think you're probably in the 30s when they are all warmed up and pressures come and stabilize

She sure did. I'm completely stock suspension (set on S) and 3.31 gears. She wiggled on that very old pavement yesterday at 60 when I nailed the throttle.

Believe me it has me dumbfounded to say the least. One thing you can see on the streets here are two grooves in the pavement. They are not deep grooves but when you look at them from the right angle, you can see they are shiny.

I never had these issues in Dallas but instead of asphalt, most of the roads there are concrete.

Maybe concrete is better.

Those are called wheel ruts. That makes sense. The roads can't support the amount of traffic that are on them and subsequent when a vehicle drives over the road it is push the rock out and making those ruts. The only thing left is the finer material like sand. Which you can't grip with. The sand just shoves while larger rock is stable enough to take the power.
Concrete is a lot better when it comes to durability.

Im guessing concrete is more expensive?

Those are the only roads my car will grip in 2nd gear (on the stock 285s F1s). Asphalt and I spin in 3rd when punching it, even at low rpms.

The asphalt industry has come out with a new style of pavement that has ground rubber in it. 700-900hp cars cam grip it. Stuff is the Sh*t. We have been using it on a lot of our highways up here. It's what we race on

Sorry, meant to say speeds, not times.

Stock HCs are running 155-158mph in the 1/2 mile and 178-181 in the standing mile. The only test I can find with a stock GT500 is from a magazine and it gave times to 150mph, and the HC was a full 2 seconds faster, which means, the 1/2 mile will be several mph difference between the two

All the stock Hellcats I've seen at the wannagofast 1/2 mile events were running 145-152mph. 13/14 GT500s had similar trap speeds. Auto HC may have a couple mph advantage, but I think 8mph is too big a stretch.

I believe concrete lasts longer, but it's more expensive and takes longer to put down. This is what makes the Houston highways so smooth to drive on, but they have 290 horribly messed up and in perma- construction mode.

They just put tar and stones down on highway 30 and it's a damn mess now. Can't believe they did that. Speed limit is 70 and it makes for an uneasy ride.

Auto challenger Hellcats trapped about the same as my stock Gt500 did at the same track and weather conditions. The cars should perform almost the same from a roll. As for the original post-if the op had a 2 second head start before the charger nailed the gas then it would explain everything.

I'll be racing a charger hellcat this weekend. It's a rematch from me losing from a 40mph roll a few weeks ago. These hellcats are no slouch on the freeway. His car was a stock auto and even tho I got him out of the hole each shift he would gain on me eventually passing me and winning by about 2-3 cars before we shut down. Keep in mind I was not powershifting nor trying to push the car too much being on shitty CA 91 octane. Shifting at 6k. This week will be a different story. I was stock then, now the car is 734rwhp and 764tq on e85 with 2.4 upper, o/r h-pipe, 67mm tb, cai, id1050x injectors and jms bap.

If his HC is still stock you will smoke him if you hook.

To the OP - why did you not line up or let the HC up beside you instead of taking off.?
