It's almost here, who's going or lucky enough to live in the band of totality?

I've been looking forward to this for at least the last seven years. I'm taking off work and taking the family down to TN - about 4hrs away. Our hotel is in the totality band and I'm planning for the worse as far as traffic and crowds and getting in and out of the area.

We are in the 95% area if it does not rain or is overcast. If you do not have a place to stay i hear you may be out of luck

We are in the 95% area, but will be staying with friend an hour north for the total eclipse. I'm just in it for the excuse to have a beer.

I'll be working from home that day to avoid the crowds and traffic. I hear it's supposed to be wild. We are a destination city to begin with and adding in an influx of people coming to witness it.. yea I'll stay home and see it from my back porch.

live and work in 100%. anyone know if regular welding shields work as viewing glasses?

For those of you in 95%, I've read that it's just not the same unless you are in the area of totality. The article said even 99% isn't the same. Can't say if that's hype or not having never seen it for myself. I have read you aren't supposed to take off your glasses even at 99%.

Where I-95 crosses the band of totality in South Carolina is predicted to be ground zero for chaos. The governor has ordered the national guard on alert or whatever so they are ready to be deployed if needed.

I live about 10 miles north of the Totality zone. There are businesses and schools all around us shutting down for the day for it. Seems crazy!

Will be in Casper WY for it. Riverton WY is the backup location if weather in Casper becomes a problem.

It will still be night in the middle of the day, just won't be able to look at the eclipse obviously, which will suck.
