Rant about surgeries/health and coming to relize how lucky some of us are....
Looks like I got some more surgery coming up.
A couple weeks ago I noticed a bit of a lump near my pubic area on the right. It was pronounced enough that I even showed my fiancee to make sure I wasn't crazy. It was definitely a bit puffy compared to the left. I had zero pain, so I said mehhhh
Then about a week ago I had a powerful sneeze and WHOLE LEE CRAP did my groin hurt after. I honestly got wooozy and sweaty afterwards a bit. Iced the crap out of it with some ibuprofen. Booked a meeting with my PCP soon as I could. Of course, in his office 2 days later the lump was gone.
He poked and touched as I coughed and couldnt get the lump to come back. At this point I'm only sore a bit. He says I must have suffered a hernia, but it must be very small if not repeatable in the office. Says to call if it pops out again. Of course that night in the shower, it pops out.
This time I was able to pop it back in and pop it back out. Man that felt weird. Definitely gurts a bit. Saw a specialist doctor the following day and within 5 seconds, he says, YUP you got a hernia.
Ended up booking arthroscopic surgery with him after discussing my options.
1. Live with it. Hope it never gets worse and or the pain level stays tolerable. If worst case happens and part of my lower intestine pops through the opening and loses bloodflow, it would need emergency repair. At that point its painful, open surgery
2. Surgery now. Looks like 4 small incisions just under the belly button. Hope to only miss 7-10 days of work. Doctor did mention the smallest possibility of killing a testicle with the surgery somehow cutting off bloodflow to the boys down there. I said, well man you best be careful! I have had a history with sore/sensitive balls and DAMN that would be such a nightmare

Kind of was super bummed that night. I'm a "healthy" 27YO 5'9 180lbs, but this is my 3rd surgery. I don't play sports or anything crazy. I just work.
Had surgery on my left wrist for recurring tendinitis and 2 years later, on my right shoulder that had some swelling in my rotator cuff last year. 3 Surgeries now in 4-5 years. Kind of bums me out.
Over the past couple days, I've come to realize how truly lucky I really am. With my life in general, and honestly overall good health with my fiancee and myself. People go through so much and endure so much with FAR FAR worse surgeries and disabilities.
Look at the thread about the man's infant son who has eye cancer. How can I get get upset about this small surgery when people have to go through things like that.
Update....
