So I thought I'd start a poll on which gears you would choose with a 2.97 T56 Magnum XL. The car is a 2011 TVS that will be making around 800whp/700ft lbs tq. It's a steet car on 28in drag radials that needs to be set up for 40 mph roll racing.

I almost went with a used 2.97 but ran out of $ before the guy replied back. My buddy opted for the 2.66 for his coyote fox & is in the process of installing. T56 still in plan, but for next winter.

Talks about it at the beginning and the end shows him driving so you skip the install portion. From my understanding the 4.10 work better with the gear ratios of the T56 and they feel like a 3.31 in an MT82 car.

Thing is, he has the 2.66 T56, and I have the 2.97. Also, the assumption you're making is the the MT 82 and 3.31s is a good set up for roll racing a high horse power TVS car on 28 in tires. Is it?

I had that Tranny in my old car and with a TVS blower, headers, exhaust etc..... 2.97 first gear and a 4.10 final is what you want

Well, we have some cold weather her in Miami, and I'm headed out to have some 295/55/15 ET Street SS put on which is a 28 in tire. Let's see if I bog it. Lol.

Man it seems like 4.10s would just kill traction. It's a street car used for roll racing. I will say this, though, I don't much care for having to reel cars in that get a jump on me. I don't want to be at them high speeds. I'd like to make my point and get out of it.

They work well with the gear ratios of the 6060 and keep it in the power band.

Well I believe that the car felt quicker with the 305/35/19 ET Street SS (27 in) than the same tire but in a 295/55/15 (28in). I had better traction with the 305s and the car seemed quicker.
Seems like one inch of aspect ratio makes a difference. I think I'll try a 26 in tire next time and see if that puts me in the power quicker.

Could anyone chime in with what they would do on a cobra jet N/A setup making approximately 450whp. My car used to be vortech supercharged, however ive gone back to an n/a setup. I am thinking 4.30 or 4.56 and didnt want to start a new thread, sorry to thread jack. Anyone have experience with these combos?

Had some American Racing headers and 3.73 gears installed on my 2011 TVS T56 car (700/600)and so far I'm happy with it. The motor feels snappy and the power comes on much lower in the RPMs which makes for a fun street car. Got some new 275/60/15 ET Steet R on it and with 18 lbs I was having some trouble with traction. I think I need to do a hard burnout and break these tires in. Anyway... I Dropped the pressure to 16lbs and the car hooks and books. I'm still feeling it out though. With my 2.97 T56 and 331s the car was lazy under 3500 rmps and traction was never really an issue. Now, the car feels eager and I have to bring the power on gradually or the tires break loose. Anyway... overall i'm happy with it and I should get better modulating the throttle the more I drive it.

I'm with you on this. I have the T-56 with the 2.97. Initially, I had the 3.31, was not working well at all. I put my original 3.73s in and now much better. Feels like my MT-82 with 3.31. I'm making 700rwhp with a 28.7 rear drag radial. Going to a 4.10 I think would be too much for a high horsepower car. If my car was naturally aspirated, I probably go even higher than a 4.10.
