This is the ’19 Ford Ranger XLT, caught cold weather testing and in production metal with its production face. Up until this point, this truck has only been seen with its mule front end.

Last week we featured the Ranger FX4, and it is now confirmed that the XLT will receive its own unique grille (following in the footsteps of the F-150 lineup).

In other markets, the current XLT can be had with a 3.2L diesel engine found in the Transit. It’s unclear if it will be offered on U.S. models, but the Ranger could be offered in a number of configurations to compete with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.

Expect a full complement of Ecoboost four- and six-cylinder engines, and perhaps a diesel. Ford may use the direct-injected twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 as the premium choice. Ford’s new 10-speed automatic, co-developed with GM, is also expected.

The ’19 Ranger XLT will be revealed next year, more than likely in Detroit.

That and weight are real issues. They should have listened to me a few years ago. Still, if they give it the 3.2 Powerstroke and a manual and I'll be there.

I finally got to drive a duramax powered colorado and it felt stout as hell.
400 ftlbs and a stick would make for a good time. Full deletes and a tune would be in order too

As much as I love my 2016 tacoma...

Hopefully it's as tough as the 2nd Gen rangers.

Im hoping they have a 6 speed manual 4x4 behind some form of ecoboost so I can put that in my current ranger

I hate the bloating of all vehicles.

I’m sure it’ll be nice but it looks like a freaking f150. Same goes for Colorado really. Not a Ford issue moreso an everything issue. Then you get in a big boy model and they are MASSIVE.

Glad to see them bringing back the ranger but I hate how big all these "midsize" trucks are.

I actually like the new Colorado. My main issue is which was the same with the last Rangers built. While I liked them a fully loaded Ranger you could get into a stripped 4x4 F-150 for not much more.

Exactly, I was replacing my 2004 Colorado last year and a new one was well into the 30’s nicely equipped.
I now have a 301A optioned FX4 XLT SCAB with a 5.0.

When was the last time ford offered a manual in a truck stateside? You seriously think they'll start now?
Since 2011 when the last ranger was still going.... Not to mention toyota and colorado both have manual options today, you seriously ask me that?

That's why I wanted the design to go a much different route. It would have been so different than the F-150 that price would not have been an issue.

Another spy shot without camo. This isn't going to be a small truck

Nope. It's not far off from a 1st Gen Tundra.
