BTW the 2R peaks around 19psi on my car around peak torque then drops off to 15psi before 7000rpm.
To me that shows the blower is running out of flow and that 25% more flow from the 3 will hopefully correct that and make 19-22psi and carry close to power peak.
Should be great area under curve increase if it prevents that boost drop off.

Yeah, I'm thinking the gains from a Gen2R to a Gen3 swap aren't going to be quite as impressive as many were hoping they would be. Definitely not worth it for guys on a stock lower end who already are running a 2R or even a ported Trinity.
Need more testing here to determine. But I definitely don't think we can say that yet. Lots of potential with the VMP Gen3 2650

15% lower 2.5 upper
I was going to test the Gen 3 at same boost as 2R then max it out

We need a test not pulley for pulley but boost to boost comparison same day same dyno on pump gas 16-18 psi and see the difference. This will prove power gains on the efficiency of the gen 3. I currently have a gen 2 on a built motor with a baby tune making 744 rwhp at 16 psi on 93. Is the Gen 3 going to make 30 hp more or 90 hp?

That will come, the big power builds always go first.
Regardless of exact numbers, the Gen 3 at the same boost will make more power and run cooler.
As we've discussed, the Gen2R is more than enough to push the envelope on pump gas.
If you're going Gen 3 and have a built motor, hopefully you can run a better octane fuel for a race tune on occasion. It'll feel like a new animal at least 100rwhp on race tune but still be safe on pump gas tune.

You mean adapter/stock GT500? Huge restriction there.
If adapter for big aftermarket GT500 TBs like the KB 168, etc I haven't heard of that.
I'd assume if the adapter is port matched like the Whipple 170 big oval TB/adapter on my Gen 2R then no restrictions.

Flow should be flow, my Whipple mono flows over 2000 cfm. BUT it says nothing about the Gen3's ability to flow tons of air.

More VMP Gen 3 2650 TVS results posted on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VMPTuning

2012 GT500 test vehicle, stock engine with factory intake and exhaust = 487 HP/443 TQ

Add 56# injectors, spark plugs, 90mm idler, 123mm CAI, and Twin 67mm throttle body with base tune.

Gen 2R w/ 2.4” pulley, 18#s boost = 656 HP/590 TQ

Gen 3 w/ 3.0” pulley, 15-16#s boost = 661 HP/595 TQ

Gen 3 w/ 2.8” pulley, 18#s boost = 684 HP/634 TQ

Once the fuel system limitations are addressed, I am interested to see how this car responds to the street and race mono-blade throttle bodies that were designed for the Gen 3… then open up the exhaust… then pulley down for max effort results.

^Pound for pound that is a sweet improvement. Nice to have the choices that are currently out there...
Good place to be...

Thanks for posting SC.

Cheers,

Good data, I love seeing more scientific approach to it.
That car has 100% stock exhaust and a small twin 67 TB.
The Gen 3 gains will be amplified with those upgrades anyone with a Gen 3 would do.
