Alright fellas need some help ASAP. I need the Forged 8 bolt crank out of a manual trans Mach 1, mine is toast. My machine shop can’t locate one through his sources, at the moment; so I’m trying to assist in the search of a crankshaft. If you or anyone you know has a stock GOOD CONDITION pull out I’d be interested in taking it off your/their hands.

Ok I was holding off on an update until I got a proper diagnosis, by my machine shop, of the damage. We saw 3 spun rod bearings while disassembling the engine. So crank was most likely done. After getting the engine down to the machine shop it turns out the damage was far worse than that. I figured there’d be some metal debris in the oil, proven right when there was debris on the cams. (See earlier photos)
So one piston made contact with the head, and there was catastrophic oil contamination due to metal debris. Damage: 1 piston done, 1 rod done, crank done, the remaining 7 rods and pistons can be saved but will need to be reworked, cams done, lifters done, timing components done, etc. As my machine shop stated the engine was very close to being totally destroyed. The good news, Block is saved and fixed, along with the heads. And yes the head that was hit by the piston is repaired. After finding out the pistons are actually dished (-3cc) he finally found one after about a week of searching. Now the very bad news: the crank. He’s called nearly everyone going well into Florida and all the way to California. No one has one in F6TECE specs, and ever so conveniently Ford has discontinued said crank. So we’re searching for a used one, or I might have to bite the bullet and get my crank repaired. We’re trying to get all my options on the table before deciding anything. There’s also some more good news (not sarcasm); I sent nearly all the engine down to the machine shop. The car was from the east coast and the saltwater air did a number on the bare aluminum. I have 3 good crankshafts and 9 shaker systems and most anything else you may need. I wouldn't be crazy about shipping crank though.

I forgot to mention this, another package came in for the Mach last week.

They don’t make a catback option for them; so I got ahold of the mufflers. I, also, have some tips on the way that should be here tomorrow. Then once the engine is back we’ll build a catback for the car.

How bad was the crank chewed up? Reason I’m asking is because I have one with a couple spun rod bearings that I was planning on having cleaned up one day for a short block build.

I used this crank in my build, option if you cannot find what you want.

I appreciate that, but I’m real only interested in a factory ford crank. This isn’t going to be my hot rod, my only planned engine mods are longtubes and cams. So a badass crank isn’t needed.

It was bad enough that metal needs to be added and then reworked.

Why not find any 96-04 Cobra crank, should work. If you don’t care about power, get an 8bolt GT crank.

I’ve read conflicting info stating the crank in the Mach is unique to the Mach. While also reading it’s the same as a Cobra crank. So, I decided to just pursue a Mach crank; that way I know it’s the correct one for the car. Luckily @Zemedici has potentially located a Mach crank for me. Fingers crossed it’s what I need!

Someone can correct but i thought the auto Mach had a 6 bolt while the 5 speed had the 8 bolt like the Cobra.

Correct. I’ve read conflicting info stating that the Manual trans Mach crank is different than the cobra while some stating it’s the same crank. Hence why I want a crank out of a Mach. Has to be F6TECE specs.

Are you going with a ported intake? You already have the spacer.

I’m not. I don’t think the intake has been ported. I might if I find another Mach intake, but the original will not be ported in my possession.
