This is the ’20 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with less camo.

The Mustang-based GT500 will build on the GT350’s performance capabilities. It was originally thought the production version would have a supercharged 5.2L flat-plane crank engine mated to a DCT transmission, but it has been confirmed that it will have an option for the Tremec six-speed manual.

Horsepower should be more than the 707hp Dodge Hellcat models, although it may fall short of the 808hp Demon (probably ringing in somewhere around 740 hp).

GT500s will also get 20-in. wheels and tires, as well as unique styling tweaks in the form of a reworked front fascia with larger air intakes, a massive hood bulge with heat extractor vents, and a side diffuser that stops mid-door.

Expect to see the GT500 later this year.

2020 MY? And "it was originally thought the production version would have a supercharged 5.2L flat-plane crank engine..." Where did that come from? I thought it's been long-rumored to have a 5.2L supercharged center plane crank?

I think they were trying to say in a poorly written way that it will come with a option for a 6 speed. "It was originally thought the production version would have a supercharged 5.2L flat-plane crank engine mated to a DCT transmission, but it has been confirmed that it will have an option for the Tremec six-speed manual."

I can't believe they stuck a big ole Cobra in the middle of the upper grill opening. And no fender vents for brakes and areo? The coolers dumping heat into the wheel well doesn't scream road course car. Wonder if this is going to be more drag oriented car and having the GT350 being the road course car? The new Cobra Jet kinda makes me think that's the case, since that's what they did with the S197.

I thought it was cross plane?

This is likely not the finalized version. Some of the spy shots show the front fenders to be wider than the GT350.

Please. This can't be the final product. After as long as we've waited, to get something that looks this bland would be such a let down.

For those who think it's bland, do you believe the current GT-350 is bland?

We know it's missing the rear spoiler. I say wait until the GT-500 is at the showroom and in its final form and then judge it. For sure not everyone is going to like it. Not everyone likes the S550.

I want to share your optimism. They can't leave it as a basic appearance. They've got to go Countach with it

I cant see them leaving the 15-17 headlights and front fenders in either. Cant judge a car based on test mules.
