This is most certainly the wrong forum to write this, but what the heck. I've had my 00R for about 4 years. Pretty much bought it as an investment car, but I thought it would be a fun car to own having had 6 Mustangs previously, two of them purpose built for road racing.
I'm a bit bored with the R. I never drive it and I'm considering trading it for a Viper. Anyone with a Gen 2 Viper care to offer an opinion? My biggest concern is the lost investment potential of the R.

I can’t comment on the rest of what’s going on in your post but I am in the market for 2000. Reach out via p.m. if you are interested in possibly selling it out right.

If it no longer excites you, sell it. Cars are for fun, NOT investments. If you want the best ROI, take the cash and invest it into the market. If you want to keep having fun, buy another toy.

@TFStang should be able to comment, as he has both.

This

4 years ago I sold my low mileage 2003 Marauder, hardly drove it, insurance, excise tax, etc. it just sat.

I put the money into Apple shortly thereafter when they split 7-1, bought 100 shares at $95/share.

Today in just four years that investment is now worth almost $20,000.

I also agree with this. Who knows what the future will hold for 00R prices. If you are bored, move on to something that gets the juices flowing.

Did someone call my name?...

If you are trying to speculate on values, it will be just that...speculation. I love my Gen II Viper, but I also love my R’s. Can’t say that I love one more than the other. Each offers an experience unique to the respective car. If you are thinking fun factor it’s tough to say ( for me anyway), which one is more fun. I love driving both. Depends on the mood I am in and what experience I am longing for. As to buying something purely as an investment, surely you can think of something better than a car. If cars are your thing and you want to prospect on values, then you can’t go wrong with either a Gen II Viper or an R. I feel moving forward that the values of the 00R may even outpace the Viper unless you get something really special like a 98 GTS-R, or a 1 of 9 ACR like my 99 which is a radio and AC hardcore delete car. No one knows what the values will be moving forward is the long and short of it, but I do think the upswing in 00R values we have seen over the last couple years will continue with a potentially significant upswing over the next 4 - 5 years. Or not....

My suggestion...keep the 00R as it is a rare beast that will be sought after as the years tick by. It is already happening albeit probably on the DL and if you can do it, also add a Viper to the stable. If you are specifically looking for a Gen II, I suggest a 99 ACR, or an 02 ACR in the hardcore variant. Get both...problem solved.

Good luck either way. I’m sure that whatever you decide will be the right choice for you.
