Looking for some advice on what I should pay for a 2018 GT Premium that is loaded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It has a $2000 rebate which puts the asking price at 51k.

My sticker on a Race Red '18 Premium Vert A10 was $52k and I got out the door on the high side of $43k, but that car had been on the lot a very long time. Options were Showstopper Red interior, Black Out Pkg, 401A Pkg, Safe and Smart Pkg and 3.55 rear. I found it in Vegas and did everything online. I live in New Mexico where the TTL is only 3%, so that helped too. My thinking is that you should be able to get a total discount with all the rebates of around $8k, plus or minus. I got lucky and Ford had just released the $1k Military Appreciation discount by the time that I got around to picking it up. My previously out the door deal was a little over $44k. I've had highly optioned '12, '14 and '15 Premium Verts and this car is far and away the best of the bunch. All that I've done so far is a resonator delete h-pipe and an e85 tune. Made 432 to the wheels at 5500' altitude. The A10 makes it feel faster than that with WOT pulls always in the sweet spot of the power band. Knowing what I know now, I would have paid more. I just got lucky on the price...

Thanks for the reply. I emailed the dealer and they said they are firm at 51k. I think because it is a Special Order. I am seeing other dealer discounts from $2500-4500 for 2018 GT Premium’s but they are not special orders. Is it normal for dealers to not negotiate on a Special Order? I might as well buy a GT350 for that price.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as what dealers normally do. They're all different. Yeah, special orders. It's probably just a customer order that the customer didn't buy and now the dealer is stuck with it. At some point, it's just going to be too expensive to keep at $51k. Then they'll lower the advertised price. When that will happen is anyone's guess. You could make him a counter offer at whatever one of the new car search websites considers a "great" deal. All he can do is say no. They won't shave your head and send you to Marine Boot Camp. I think that it helps for a dealer to know that you have the cash or the financing already done. That can increase their motivation to work with you. When they get serious, many of them will try to beat your own financing terms with Ford Credit or some other in house financing source. That happened to me too and sweetened the deal even further. I would use CarGurus or some other similar search site and put your criteria in with no limit on dealer distance. You will be surprised what you can find. Some areas are a buyer's market and some are a seller's. I live in a seller's market and that's why I buy out of state. Some deals in other areas are so good that they more than justify the travel costs. That was my case. For instance, I almost bought a car from Sarasota Ford in Florida. Car was a fully loaded PP A10 black Premium Vert that was $57k MSRP. Dealer was advertising $45k. Out the door was $47k. I like the PP A10 cars and it was a slightly higher percentage point discount difference, but the car I got was closer, cheaper overall and the PP just wasn't worth that much extra to me. I think my search criteria was GT Premium, Automatic and my color choices of Triple Yellow, Race Red, Black and Orange Fury. Then, instead of sorting by cheapest, I sorted by best deals. Another good sort criteria is by days listed. The longer they have it, the lower they will go to get rid of it. Good luck...

There shouldn't be a problem picking up that car for around $47,500. As said the dealer is probably just salty that they're getting stuck with this special order, and trying to milk it for a couple weeks before they finally come down on it. If not... you won't have trouble finding a much better deal then they're offering; their loss.

There are 7-8 grand worth of rebates/incentives.

Negative sir. There is rarely more than 3-4k Rebate on a Mustang so perhaps you are referencing the total discount including rebates and dealer discount.

Walk from that dealer and come back in a year when they still have it. They are still over invoice on that car from what I see.

Yeah, my total rebates were only 3k. The dealer just ate the rest...

Good to hear. I was a manager at Team Ford up the road and owned by the same family.
Yeah, the owner was in the morning that I took delivery. He was obviously the kind of guy that took good care of his employees and it showed. All of them said that they loved working for him. No wonder they took such good care of their customers. That kind of leadership is all too rare in today's business world...

Much better deal than the other car. Much better. I would want the Safe and Smart as well, but I'm old and like creature comforts. You're going to love the Gen3 Coyote and A10 combo...
