I'm hoping the car can run 10's in the quarter in stock trim, with stock tires, and match or outperform the ZL1 on a road course.

What I'm really hoping for, is for this car to dip into the 9's with minimal mods. I'm thinking pulley, TB, intake, tune, and drag radials.

If so, I might be a buyer.

I'm not too concerned about the performance. I'm sure it will be awesome. I'm more worried about the looks. I so hope they do not use the 18+ front end, as it is just hideous.

I think not having a Cobra for 11 years and getting older has given me a new perspective on the new GT500. Like everyone else I want it to go fast, but I'm not going to bashing the car if it doesn't do 9's with a new air filter.

I'm just hoping the car looks good in a pissed off kind of way and clearly stands out among the family of mustangs. I want it to handle well and be comfortable/enjoyable to drive. Ford could put out something that is faster then the Demon and looks like ass and handles like crap, but I would trade some of that speed for looks and how it drives.

I expect it to be better than the Trinity in every way, shape, and form. Straight line performance will be better than the Hellcat/Red Eye. Corner carving it needs to beat the regular ZL1 and if there’s a KR model it needs to beat the 1LE. They’re unbelievably late to the game so it needs to beat the competition or it’ll be bashed from many.

Pick your poison.

It'll go head to head with the ZL1 in most categories, except it will sell better.

Anybody else think that maybe, just maybe, Ford is waiting for the C8 to drop so they can shit all over it with the GT500? :)

edit:
Performance-wise, I'm suspecting it will run high-10s right off the showroom and handle on par or better than the GT350R. That alone will put it way out front of the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE.

Not sure about the waiting part. But GT Premi, as far as the performance you listed! Your lips to gods ears or the Ford execs if your watching, reading, paying attention or taking notes.

1. It doesnt look anything like these God-awful mockups we have seen or any of these other terrible looking S550 cars on the market.
2. Rear tires wide as the grand canyon.
3. Damn well better come with a manual trans not some pussy auto only car.

I’m guessing or leaning towards all of the following.

•$67,500 gt500 base model
755hp@6500rpm, 700tq@3800rpm

•$75,000 gt500KR
825hp@6800rpm, 750tq@4000rpm

•$10k carbon/aero pack with further magnetic suspension tuning and cf wheels to drop 50lbs total.

•$5k brake package

•$3K power pack level 1 to take 755hp to 780hp
•$5k power pack level 2 to take 755hp cars to 810hp
•$3500 seat option
•$1500 stripe option

Ford has been screwing around so long on this one, they've literally lost their mojo. Dodge has stolen it almost every year since 2015.

Minimum 780-horse
10s on factory tires in summertime DAs
Walks on both Demon and Redeye from a roll
Only marginally slower than ZR1 and handily faster than ZL1 on road-courses
210-ish top speed

Yeah, they've got their work cut out but they deserve it for sitting on their asses on this for so long. Assign more folks to Performance Group and stop ****ing around already!!!
