Been looking through every bit of info on this I can find. I did the 4r70 swap back in 04 to my Cobra and I’m ready for a switch. Definitely going to be going with paddle shifters just not sure which yet. I need to read up on the AMG paddles as I would prefer to keep the air bag.
Any chance you guys who are doing the swap and have a separate build thread would add a link to them in this thread?
Thanks and looking forward to doing this once my car is running again.

Ken

Another way you can keep the stock wheel is wire the cruise control buttons as shift buttons

Is there a way to do that and still be able to toggle back so the cruise control would still work or is that wishful thinking?
I thought I remembered reading a how to article years ago on doing just that with the cruise control buttons but using them to control the stereo volume. Then toggle back so the cruise control still worked. I’ll have to dig around and find that because I know I saved it somewhere. It might be able to help adapt it to working for cruise control and toggle over to use the buttons for shifting.

I remember that article you're talking about.

Here it is.

I’m doing this swap currently with twin turbo Mach 1. I bought a used built 14 trans,258mm circle d, ford racing 3.5 DS. Sent the converter to circle d and they refreshed it to a 2D/4000. Bought the stifflers crossmember, PBH trans fittings, PA performance pan/dip stick, ford racing flywheel/separation plate, B&M super cooler/push lock fittings, quick 6 w/brake installed, Darrin Burch is modifying my shift lever so I can use my hurst shifter.

A1 Transmission is redoing my transmission currently, circle d found metal shavings in the converter when I sent it to them. Bought all new gaskets, front pump, intermediate, clutches from PBH. Also bought the front billet planetary from Brett LaSala.

I use a holley hp with my combo, went from a powerglide to the 6r. My cars been on the 4th pass it made on 9lbs was 9.2@145mph so I hope it comes close to that ET with the 6r.

Just hope the quick 6 can get me into the mid 8s. 99% top of the line I’m doing.

Anyone know where I can get oem bell housing bolts? I thought I bought the correct one from CJ Pony but there wrong.

Friend of mine did this swap and had to have the 11 gt driveshaft modded to fit. Does anybody make a custom shaft that will fit and will it matter if its irs or sra? I may go sra later and would hate to have to get a new d/s.

Was this your friends brother's sister's cousin?. 2 people said they used that DS and said it bolted right up.

Are you getting the stock 11 gt drive shaft and the M-4602-MGTM mix'ed up?
the stock 2011 gt didn't come with the M-part #'s above. Factory was a 2 piece.

But if you have more info please let me know. It just so happen I placed a order with AN last week for the M-4602-MGTM. If there is a problem now I would like to know before I pay for it.

Me and paulstang347 had no issues. We both used the ford racing 11-14 manual one piece driveshaft and it worked fine. The part number is listed above along with many other part numbers. Between the two thread that paulstang and I have there isn’t much left you need to know to do this swap. The stock one will not work. And it’s the same with an irs or sra from what I’ve read

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that I was pretty sure he used the 11-14 gt driveshaft that was listed and not the stock 11 gt ds. I only talked to him briefly about it but he said the one he bought wouldnt bolt up to his irs, said he had to have it shortened.

No need to be a douche about it. I am the friend Rambro was talking about. And yes I bought the driveshaft with part# M-4602-MGTM. The 2 people using this ds do not have the irs, I do.

Swap out the yokes with the one from the 03 cobra shaft. He is correct i do have solid axle. It is possible you may need it shortened. Even though i was using my stock 04 cobra shaft with my solid.
That is the yoke from my 03 shaft. I know it needs shortened. I was just posting for the ones that didn't believe it and for the ones doing the swap and needing to know about it. Would also like to let people know that kooks headers will work with the 6r80. I did have to dent the trans pan a little to give the pass side O2 sensor a little more room.
