Here’s a first look at an undisguised, production-ready ’19 Camaro ZL1 1LE testing outside of GM’s Milford Proving Grounds.

While almost every other Camaro variant was revealed back in April, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE were unfortunately absent. Up front, the ZL1 1LE appears to remain virtually unchanged, but around back, it gets a new toned-down rear bumper, new taillights and what appears to be an additional camera (the normal backup camera is located right above the license plate) built into the satellite radio shark fin. Interestingly, the production-ready ZL1 spied in July had a similar camera built into the rear wing, not the shark fin.

Power is still expected to come from the 6.2L LT4, which is good for 650 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a TREMEC six-speed manual.

Expect an official debut in the coming months.

I'm glad they didn't touch the front end, but I think the new lines on the rear bumper cover are awkward. The new tail lights are ok from a straight ahead view, but from the side they telescope out instead of the inset design from the current model. Still badass, but I prefer the 17-18 design for the ZL1. The new SS is just fugly.

I like it much better without the black hood. Still nor sure about the taillights. I like my 18's better.

Front looks nice, I’ll have to get used to the tail lights. And if they finally put the 2.3 on that engine instead of the crappy 1.7; that would make that car much more appealing to me.

Pick your poison.

Transformers. More than meets the eye.

I’m still not feeling it.

I feel like this is a 2018 Fiero in bizarro world. Instead of looking cool and having mediocre performance,.......

Never have been a fan of aggressive aero and wings on street cars.

I 100% know they’re performance additions. I’m aware they make the car badass. And I know it’s an unpopular viewpoint, but I just think it detracts visually.

ZL1-1LE, GT350R, ZR1, even the cgi GT500-wing....I’m an equal opportunity street car aero hater.

Lose the wing, canards, etc. and you can enjoy the lines of the car. Less is more.
