This forum is pretty dead, but i'll introduce myself anyways.

I have always liked the bosses, and heard their engines were some of the strongest from the factory, but never really thought about getting one myself. Ive had 2 S550's, one I built to 850rwhp with a Whipple and E85. I've had a Terminator swapped mach 1, and my most recent car, a 2013 GT500. The GT500 had to leave for some unforeseen reasons, and I was actually in the market for another when I came across this car in the Boss 302 owners group on FB. Guy traded it in on a Rubicon due to his family growing, which is understandable. When I picked it up it only had 6500 miles on it, and he was the original owner! it came with the track key, car cover and owners kit. So cool.

After putting a few hundred miles on the car all I can say, is that the Boss is the 8th wonder of the world and a very overlooked car in terms of pure fun and is a true drivers car. Definitely not the fastest thing (

which isn't hard to change with a call to lethal performance) but holy cow, the Rev's, the 3.73 and Torsen Differential, the Recaro's and 180mph Speedometer all make for a car you can really tear up some backroads with, without the car breaking a sweat.

Ive always modded the shit out of most of my cars but this one will stay mostly stock for a while, I did order a GT500 spoiler, Valance, and Quad tips for it but those are subtle changes. I Really wanted to add a PD blower to the car but I think I will opt for a nice Vortech JT next year so I can keep the Boss Manifold intact. I do a lot of half mile racing and I think this car would be a good candidate to take the stock motor record which stands at 178. We shall see, going to take it slow, and maybe even pick up another. Really impressed with this thing so far

Hey congrats on the new car! Great Mustang history, too!

BTW, hard to tell from the pic, but your car might be slightly lowered in the back?

Gorgeous Boss!!

Congrats. I had a real tough time choosing either my new 18 or a 13 Boss. I really wanted to try the new 10sp so I went with the 18 but damn....... lots of sleepless nights over the decision before I actually bought!

I think the S197 13/14 cars are far and away the best looking modern mustangs.

I have been sitting here, staring at your car for like 5 minutes. WOW! It really looks great.

I also, was wondering of it is lowered?

I did too, I heavily considered a few cars almost Identical to yours, that 10 speed is something else. I don't think you can go wrong with either, that 18 is definitely a better choice if its a daily, these recaros are a little rough on long trips lol

You'll love the sound with the sidepipes open! I'm guessing FRPP "P" springs (not the even lower "K" springs). The Ps are a great spring - ride height isn't too low, they ride fine with the OE dampers, and the handling is improved for sure.

That's funny that you say the Recaros are tough on long trips - I have taken a number of 3+ hour trips in mine and I find them incredibly supportive and comfortable (but I have had Recaros in a lot of cars so I am used to them maybe).

Welcome to the Boss madness!

I agree with the ride height, I am going to do some 20x10/20x11 F14’s and see how they look with these springs. Hopefully it looks good and I don’t have to change them out. I hate doing spring installs lol.

Well to be fair about the seat statement, I was USMC infantry for 3 years, and have been through some rough 4 wheeler accidents so my 26 year old body is really about 50ish, or so it feels like!

Who still makes midpipes that retain the side pipes? Kooks and MRT?

You made a great choice i love my boss. You will love the sound of the exhaust after you remove the restrictor plate. I had to put mine back after i added the cat deletes. It just became too loud for a daily driver for me. i drilled out m restrict or plate to a 1/2 inch and now it sounds just perfect for me. A little louder than with cats and no restrictor plate. But the sound of the burple and crackle is a bit mor intense to go with what i think the boss should sound. ENJOY!!!!

Did you get rid of the gt500 or the s550?

Hopefully not and you just added lol.

EDIT: nvm... I just re-read your OP

Both lol never should’ve sold the S550 but I’m young and dumb. If I can hold off on going full retard on the Boss, maybe just a CJ setup, I will grab another 13/14 in the spring!

That boss motor is just as strong (or stronger) than a 13/14 GT500 motor.

Throw some boost at it and let her eat!

Congrats on your new Boss, it looks great. While it may not be the fastest out presently there is just something special about the Boss, it is just exciting to drive.

Dynatech makes a x pipe that retains the side pipes
Kooks makes an h pipe that does the same

Good Deal, I will look into those. Thanks!

Agreed! I really like what I am seeing out of the new 2.650 VMP has, but may go turbo just to keep the boss Manifold. Decisions decisions!

and I would say the Boss motor is way stronger, quite a few living good lives at 850+

Congrats! I saw that car on the Boss fb page too. Looks like a sweet purchase. Look forward to seeing where you go with it.
