I have a DSS 306 sitting in my garage out of my old Foxbody that only has over a thousand miles on it. I bought it in 04 or 05 I think. It ran well, I just didnt like the cam.

Cheapest quality 408W crate motor he can find. We did that from Summit for my uncles '70 Cougar convertible and he loves the 408/AOD combo we put together.
408" with 4" stroke and medium sized heads give a great torque curve for that heavy application.
Did it come with some black isotoner gloves? :)

Biggest issue is the speed density. Need to work around it to determine your path forward

Either the old school way of a fox body A9L computer + MAF, or find a 96 OBDII truck (mine is factory MAF).

Ford racing sold a MAF conversion kit years ago, I used to see them pop up on NLOC or LRodder every so often, I think that used the A9L PCM but I could be wrong.

The a9L is a manual pcm, so if the bronco is an aod its fine. The issue with the 96+ setup is theyre for am e4od

351w bored .30 over, mild cam with Holley 650 double pumper married to a C-6 has plenty of power and torque. All I use it for is a summer time beach vehicle. But definitely check out the Bronco forums and websites there is plenty of information and parts out there. Probably just as much as a mustang.

I’m probably going to go with the Holley Sniper EFI when I dig into my ‘66 Toronado. Buddy put it on his ‘69 GT350 and loves it.

See, these are the things I don't think about at 4 in the morning! Being a 89 302 it should be an AOD, but as others have said in this day and age an aftermarket EFI system wouldn't be a bad idea.

No real need to change out the SD system. You only really need a tuner to program a chip for the mods need you will be changing. Unless you plan to go crazy with this build. Just FYI you will need to have the tranny built for the 351w

Sure, if you want, keeping the stock SD is an option.
Just depends on his goals and budget.

Good point! Most tuners don't want to touch the older stuff anymore. There are tuners in my area who won't tune 03-04 Cobras due to their age.
