That is the yoke from my 03 shaft. I know it needs shortened. I was just posting for the ones that didn't believe it and for the ones doing the swap and needing to know about it. Would also like to let people know that kooks headers will work with the 6r80. I did have to dent the trans pan a little to give the pass side O2 sensor a little more room.

Very nice. That is good info to have. We are pioneers in the 6r80 platform swap so lets get as much info out there we can on it. Thanks for letting us know.

So Paul and Micheal, it looks like both you guys switched out the rear flange on the M-4602-MGTM. 1 put a stock flange on and 1 went with a strange flange. both are 8.8 sra.

do either of you know if the M-4602 drive shaft fit on out the box without switching rear flanges.? on your guy's 8.8 sra.

And to holiks03cobra, I'm sorry you took me making a joke that was meant just for miscommunication/telephone game, as Douchey. If you go back and read, it was a very uncertain comment made by Rambo.

I am glad for the info,(and on the headers I have the same) as I said I did place a order on that particular drive shaft. So I hope I can get some replys on the info I asked above.

Mine did not fit with the flange that came on it. I had to change it

just swapping it out with the factory piece? I hope my rear flange fits off my shaft now as it's not the factory drive shaft. It does have 1350 u-joints though.
I wonder why Holiks03cobra's didn't fit. looks about a 1/2" or so off.

Edit: I do have a MM k-member with 1/2" drop spacers. Maybe that will make up the difference.

G dang it I just read through this thread and really good info. Gonna have to get creative to figure out how I'd get one of these over to Spain (active military) when my t45 finally lets go but that is the plan. Military post weight limit is 75 lbs so... yeah...

Oh I can get it brought in with a shipping crate that a local business gets in every few months but its not super cheap and then I have to pay VAT on anything that comes in unless its MilAir or I get someone from my old unit to fly it in on a grey tail but that would be asking a LOT for a heavy ass transmission.

The guys having driveshaft issues are the ones with IRS. The pinion on the IRS is about 1/2" further forward than a SRA car. That is why when you swap to a SRA you should get a new driveshaft because you loose 1/2" of spline engagement on the transmission output shaft.

So for those with IRS, what is the solution to the Ford Racing 1 piece not fitting? Are the only options getting it shortened or getting a custom shaft made?

Any decent driveline shop can build one.... rather than spend the money ford wanted for an oem lightning ds I had a reputable local shop build one

Driveshaft length is a non-issue when any competent shop could build you one for the same price or less.

Great thread chocked full of info - loving it. Possibly may put in the 6r80 over the 4r70 in my 98 BAB.

Make sure the converter is the right distance from the flexplate. Idk what that really means tbh but I read that on an S197 forum when I was researching the swap

That is a requirement for all automatic transmissions on all cars. Once the trans is bolted in place you need to measure the freeplay distance between the flexplate and pads on the converter. Typical spacing is 1/8" to 3/16" but you should confirm with your trans/converter builder what sort of clearance they like to see. Either way, if you are out of the recommended range you will have serious issues.

That sucks. When you replaced the intermediate shaft did you replace the 13 bolts that attach the front pump to trans case?. Part # 6L2Z-7N134-BA.

6R80 service manual says to replaces those 13 bolts(6L2Z-7N134-BA) every time you open it up.

Or it could be a front pump seal. 6L2Z-7A248-AA.
