Been a while since I was in a Mustang. I bought a HellCat about two years ago and wanted to get something different.
I don't regret the trade at all, tho the Mopar was much more comfortable, the Shelby is definitely more fun to drive.
I haven't had time to drive it much, hopefully in the next few weeks I can put some miles on it.
I haven't really seen a ton of videos on YouTube with the GT350, so maybe I can get some content uploaded.

I was looking @ picking up a Hellcat before I picked up my 350R. I'd be curious to hear your comparison of the 2. I came from a 14 gt500 w/ 760RWHP so compared to that the R doesnt have nearly the tq but is a far better car in every other category.

I haven't driven either car, but if I had to choose one of those two it would be the GT350. I have no doubt it's a blast to drive. Hopefully in months to come you'll still be totally happy with your switch from the Hellcat.

I went from a 16 HC A8 to a new 18 R. My thoughts... No more low end SC'r pucker factor. No more top end SC'r pucker factor. The SC'r pucker factor is great if you're into that kinda thing. My R is a better controlled driver and a much more controlled fun driver in everyway. I've reached my Zen/balance with the R. Appreciated the HC and it's amenities for what it is but it's not for me. I now have a 15 Z51 M7 convertible and my R in the garage if that's any indication of how I like to drive. Melting tires, creating smoke, SC'r straight line hits was fun for a short while. Just not my bag anymore. Do not miss it.

I’d bet money that an e85, tuned 4.56 full bolt on gt350 on some light wheels and semi race rubber would be very fun and basically hellcat fast from 0-125. 70 roll would still be the hellcats, but we are talking about a car that traps 117 vs 125-128. Tune, gear, e85 and bolt ons will get a gt350 to easy 120-125mph Range. That’s very fun power. The c6z is right there as comparison.

I’d personally rather have a c6z or gt350 vs a hellcat for the overall experience. That said, the hellcat and demon are excellent cars, and I commend job on terminating the competition at least thus far. More of a modern day terminator than the thus far (as in lacked) 15-18 (non existent) gt500. That said, the 2019/2020 gt500 should be ****ing fantastic

I'll soon have this near setup except with 4.09's (or 4.11's). I've said it many times, the hellcat is the fat, overweight guy who shows up to the gym and bench presses 400 lbs, but can't squat, can't do pull ups or run or anything remotely athletic otherwise. It's a one hit wonder. And expensive at that. Dodge did a phenomenal job of marketing 30 year old technology and putting a package together that advertised huge crank HP numbers. To anyone who has no brain, they see 800 hp and think it's awesome. Which it would be if they'd have invested a shred of effort in weight reduction or savings. A car that makes 800 crank HP off a 6 liter blown motor on race fuel isn't exactly impressive to me. It revs as high as a John Deere tractor, and here's a little stat that will shock you....

With comparable rubber, the hellcat doesn't out turn or out brake a Honda Accord sport. That's pretty pathetic. Granted, it's a muscle car and obviously straight line grunt is it's unapologetic calling card, but honestly, if you're going to pay what people are paying for Hellcats and Demons, I would expect that it doesn't get outshined by grocery getters in every other performance aspect.

Comparing these two cars is apples/oranges. The 350 is more like an all around MMA fighter and for it to even be in the same league as the hellcat would be pretty sad for the hellcat (given that it skins it's ass in every other facet).

I'm actually way more impressed with the trackhawk than the hellcat/demon. An SUV that romps like that is impressive. A boat of a passenger car is yawn to me. Especially when you consider there are 2018+ GT's that are in the 8's (with dealer installed, warranty twin kits) for $30k less and that car will out brake and out turn the hellcat 7 ways to Sunday.

I guess the summary is, the 350 is the spiritual successor to the old 92 series M3. It's got the growl and look of a muscle car, but is more apt to be compared to European touring/track cars. The gears are ridiculously tall and not suited for street/strip use at all.

The hellcat/demon could have been so much more if Dodge had spent ANY effort on keeping it from weighing as much as an SUV/Mini Van.

A super duty truck is impressive for HP/Tq numbers until you consider what it weighs. Dodge marketing folks are laughing all the way to the bank.

No clue here.... the guy at the gym analogy is one of the dumbest analogies I have ever heard. Not even close.

A better analogy would be the Hellcat is Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson
and the 350 would be like a Mat Fraser.

So enlighten us all as to what other feature the hellcat/demon excels at. Speak to us about fuel economy, or braking, or turning capability or ANY other driving metric other than moderate success at straight line speed.

Go to ANY drag strip and hellcats are rarely (if ever) the fastest car there. There's THOUSANDS of built camaros and mustangs and even ricer cars that are made to go faster (in a straight line) and even cars that only equal the hellcat's ET/Traps, ALL of those cars out perform the dodge in virtually EVERY other aspect of driving experience.

The hellcat/demon could have been an exceptional car (even for the money) if Dodge could find a way to shed 600 lbs off the car. At 4400 lbs, the car weighs nearly as much as my 4Runner. It's pathetic. There's absolutely NO reason, other than dodge being lazy or penny pinching for a coupe (Challenger) to weigh 4400 lbs. It's almost as if Dodge engineers and bean counters said "hey the car is really heavy, it'll go way faster if we save some weight, but who cares, we'll just market old engine tech and show a really big crank HP number and idiots will buy it thinking it's the baddest car around."

A 3800 lb challenger with 800 hp at the crank starts to become impressive. A 4400 lb pig that uses tech that was around in 1990 that costs more than a luxury car is a case study in marketing success. Dodge didn't invest a single dime in R/D for the program. Nothing about the motor or trans or components (carbon fiber, lightweight materials, etc). Nothing. They literally said, just make a big, inefficient motor and strap it to a tug boat and idiots will pay a fortune for it.

I think a gt350 needs a 4.30 to 4.56 to make the most of its engine on a 28” tire.

I’d go with that instead of the 4.09.

I have been in many projects and ran everything from a bpu 03 cobra with 3.55, then 4.10’s, then nitrous, then 3.55 with twin 57’s on a revvy 4.6 terminator, then 4.10’s with a torquey 5.4 with 57’s, then a 3.08 on 28” tires with 900whp/wtq on the torquey 5.4 tt.

Currently I have 3.73’s, t56, 8k rpm with twins making 1200whp. People tell me I need to run a 3.27 or 3.55 because of my turbo size and so on.

**** no. On pump gas, the 3.73 is perfect with my power, and 7500-8000rpm. Launch hard off boost on a 3500rpm clutch roll, peddle 1st, hook 2nd, freight to 90, freight to 130, freight to 175. Look in the rear view and chuckle.

At the least, hop on Wallace racing and see for yourself what rpm and mph you’ll be at with the 4.56 or 4.30, the voodoo mill begs for short rear.

I agree that more gear would be a bigger improvement but until they offer a kit to correspondingly compensate the 6th/overdrive, 10% is about as bold as I'd like to go. I take quite a few long trips and the car loves to purr at 103 and 3k rpms. Going bigger on the rear is great for jaunts and strip times but destroys any cruising sanity. Ideally I could get a .50 overdrive to go with a set of 4.56 rear.

Not every man is built to stomach the force of 700+ pavement demolishing torque.

Totally understandable... this is why they made the Honda S2000, Subaru Forester, Ford Pinto, and GT350. Iced Latte’s and man-buns included.

Leave the horsepower for the bearded guys with hair on their arms and chests.
