Moving from the Low Country to Virginia Beach, VA. I know VA does not allow radar detectors.
I also understand some units have a radar detector, detector. I have two questions.
Do officers really pull you over for using a radar detector?
Will I get pulled over for no front plate on my GT500?

Thanks for your service and be safe out there!

I’ve lived here for just over 13 years. I don’t know if they have detector detectors, but you don’t see people running detectors. Also, check out Craig’s mustang brackets. It’ll let you stay legal and not drill through your bumper. Plus he’s a solid dude, and a member here.

yes, they will pull you over for running a detector, yes they have detector detectors. and yes, you can and probably will get pulled over for no front plate however it depends on the cop and his/her mood as to whether you get pulled over. some don't care at all. but if they are looking for a reason to pull you over that is a good reason.

Yes yes and yes VA cops will pull you over for anything done to your car. I've been pulled over before because my stock car was to loud. No front license plate anything. Im in northern VA so its 1000x worse up here that's how these counties are funded BS tickets

Bullshit. Tickets dont fund those counties in any way shape or form. And before you get all worked up, I have 30 years living there. This idea of writing tickets for funding has been debunked on this forum more than once by people a lot smarter than you and me.

Maybe you shouldn’t drive like as ass and you wouldn’t have so many that it skews your thought processes. Or keep your car closer to legal if you can’t afford the tickets you get. And yes those two sentences are assumptions based on the tone of your post.

Weird. I thought it was impossible to get pulled over around here.

I posted a few states leo budget, court budget, and citation income. None are even close to funding the operation.

Virginia Raked In $101 Million in Speeding Tickets Last Year - FairfaxNews.com

Virginia Issues $238 Million in Traffic Tickets

Maybe the VA Beach area is different than the rest of VA...

Also..look at "forced entrapment."...it used to be that snipers were considered dishonorable...times change..

That ****ing article literally states the money goes to public schools.... So the state is using it pretty responsibly

To further debunk that bullshit, va beach had a police budget of 92 million. From the article you linked they brought in 8.4 million...

Been here since Dec 2015 with my Shelby being my only car. Received one ticket out in Fauqiuer County by an undercover and i FULLY deserved it. I was doing 25 over on 4th of July (i know, of all dates to speed, a holiday). I didnt argue, i was polite, he wrote the ticket for 19 over to avoid the whole felony thing and cut me loose.

Beyond that one incident, ive never been hassled by police out here and ive never ran my front license plate. I think as long as you arent being shady or being a dick, they arent going to look for any more reason to ticket you. Theyve always been polite in my interactions.

Also shameless plug, 2019 Old Dominion SCCA Solo season starts Apr 7 in Pungo.
