Hello friends. I just recently pulled the trigger on a 2008 Mustang GT. It’s a 5 speed manual and has the premium package. 18,500 original miles. Everything on the car is bone stock. It’s been kept under a car cover and in a climate controlled garage for most of its life. The final price was $12,500. I think it was a pretty good buy if I say so myself. It’s hard to find such low mileage cars like that these days. What do you guys/gals think?

99 & 44/100% sure they're OE, and 2008 OE at that.

I think they're what's been referred to as the "Fanblade" wheel, except that the "web" areas of the spokes on OP's wheels appear to have been given a little paint for accent.

I don't think they were very common - most people got the Bullitt/Torq-Thrust style instead. My dealer told me that they'd never ordered a car with fanblades, and that was when I was looking into getting my '08, well into the 2008 model run.

Straight out of the 2008 Mustang brochure . . .

Well I guess that answers the question. I was never a huge fan of the Torq-thrust style and these wheels being an apparently somewhat rare option makes it just a little bit better. I appreciate the info sir

Very nice. I have 2 lowish mike 3V’s (32k and 55K). Any plans for the car?

Looks like a solid find for the price and mileage. I see it has the premium package based on the funky shift knob, my 08 came with that. You're the only other person I've seen with it lol

It’s funny that you say that. I don’t like that shift knob at all actually. I’ve seen those silver ones before and I’ve always thought they looked odd. I plan on putting an MGW short throw in pretty soon which will take care of that.

That shift knob you have isn't the same as what I got with my '08, which was a Premium (140A). I did get the Interior Upgrade Package, though.

Modified shift lever as initially installed, close-up at knob.jpg

If you're wondering about the installation, that's not a stock or regular aftermarket attachment - the knob currently works with a MGW shifter through a DIY-fabbed extension piece (I found the MGW's shorter throw made the shifting too notchy even at its longest throw setting; much smoother now. I've since covered the lever and the cabin got a lot quieter).

I'm also curious about the direction you're thinking of taking this car in.

And the plan is? If I may ask...

Pick your poison.

Well keep in mind this is my first mustang and I have very limited knowledge about them so I plan on reading as much as I can about them. Also, I look forward to learning the vast amounts of information that more educated people on this forum know.

My plan as of right now is to go for a mostly blacked out look cosmetically. Performance wise, nothing too crazy. I want to keep it NA. Definitely no nitrous kits. If it was a drag car, maybe. But its purpose for me is a street car. Right now I’m thinking an intake, throttle body, tune, 4.10 gearing, short throw, exhaust of course, and a catch can. I’m sure there will be more eventually.

I don’t plan on putting a ton of miles on this car. It’ll be a weekend warrior for sure so I could see some injectors and just general fuel delivery parts later on down the road as gas mileage won’t be a big factor.

Like I said, my knowledge is limited on this stuff and I am welcome to suggestions!

The 08 and 09 year models came with sound dampening material around the shifter from the factory and MGW also includes an extra layer off it with the purchase of their short throw so I don’t think the noise will be too much of an issue. I would be interested in getting rid of excessive notchyness (if that’s a word) if I don’t like it however. See my response above for my plans for the car

That’s basically my plans with my GT. But mine will be heads, cams, intake, exhaust. Everyone that’s ridden in both my GT and my Roush say it’s a night and day difference. So the goal is to get the GT to the Roush’s current level before I put the built engine and bigger supercharger in the Roush. If you got any questions let me know. S197 I (05-09) Mustangs are by far my favorite modern mustangs. I’ll be acquiring my 3rd 3V in a couple of years, another Roush.

Dang. I’m jealous. I LOVE the Roush packages. I want to get a Roush front bumper and spoiler. They look great. I’m sure you know this but make sure you read up on the cams. I’ve heard from a few people that their engines blew after putting cams in. Just FYI.

I can tell you Roush is almost useless when it comes to info and getting stuff for my 427R. I managed to scoop up several 3V parts when they were cleaning out their factory a few years ago. Including a P-51 short block, which also includes a 3V Aluminator block, never been used.
I’ve read about it on numerous occasions. Got friends with cammed 3V’s and things went smoothly and no issues have arose that were cam related. I’m not afraid. Plus they won’t be really aggressive. Plan is for the GT to get Hot Rods and the Roush will get some Comp blower cams.

No kidding. I’ve tried to read up on different models of Roush Mustangs through the Roush website and it’s like they just kick the older models to the curb. I can’t find anything about them on their site. Sounds like you had a good find on those blocks. I’m sure they’re not easy to get ahold of. Good luck with your projects!
